Nurburgring or bust!!
I'm finally making the trip to the famous Nurburgring to spend the day there, do 4 laps, take tons of pictures, get some GoPro video, and make some memories. I'm going with some buddies of mine that all have track prepped, daily driven, BMW M3's. So excited. Has anyone else been?

Enjoy, and be safe. I'm jealous.

It's a blast but just be safe and watch out for the guys that are pushing there car beyond there limit. I did 4 laps last year and every lap there was a wreck the last one shut the track down for awhile. Make sure to check this site the day after you go.

I suggest you mount the gopro in the center of your roof, right above the rear view mirror for the best footage. Nothing gets older faster than low angle fender shots unless you have multiple cameras for your event. Don't forget to try and get a lot of still shots too, it's the thing I regret most when I was at Track Attack.

I'm probably going to have a helmet mount on the right side so that the view is from my head area close to what I am seeing. I'm also not too worried about the people going to fast for their skill level. Baby steps for me. All my buds are running in the 8:20's range. I'm doing a couple ride along laps with them and then they are going to ride with me and talk me through the first couple of laps. Then it's on.....until I figure out what to upgrade first. LOL

I have done alot of laps on the Nurburgring with my older car.The mustang is not been there yet but I will go before weather gets bad. In my mazda rx8 I got over 100 laps done and every single day out there someone hit the wall. Wear a helmet.

I had a blast yesterday. I'm trying to collect some pictures from all the photographers that take pics on the ring. My first lap just after it opened with my son riding shotgun was a 11:13. I was in awe of the elevation changes, off camber corners, how fast the next corners come up, and the scenery. I took a break after the first lap and talked to a couple of my buddies. One gave me a ride in his E90 fully stock M3. We did a 8:49 with my son in the back seat as well. Then I did my second lap with my friend riding with me to help couch me through the second lap. Knowing how to heel toe shift and not caring what the time was and just focusing on what I was doing at each corner and breaking point help a lot. The second lap as a 10:17. So just having someone who knows how to drive around the dang thing was really helpful. The next time I go I will get there early again and do all my laps before all the people show up. That was most helpful. I did another lap later that day but there were tons of people on the track. I had a friend's wife riding with me and I was following another friend who was in a rent-a-racecar Suzuki Swift. That lap was really slow because there were just a ton of people on the course and there was a VW GTI that thought it was a great idea to just drive right into the wall sideways, totalling his car, just after the GP course on the first turn. I rode with my other friend Chris that was following another friend around that was in a Z06. That was crazy. His car is prepped for this course. KW Club Sports, Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires, corner balanced, the works. That was insane. I have a new respect for a properly set up car.
Chris and his wife.
Me riding with Chuma with my son in the back. The whole time I was trying to figure out how we hadn't flown off the track and into the trees. Planted is the only way for me to explain how that thing was around the whole course.
Here are my laps from Harry's Lap timer.
Here is the Z06 while we were chasing it.
I can't wait to go back and get some more laps in. I still have one lap left on my card so I should be able to do 5 in one day. I might need sme new brake pads after that though. I was driving on my Pilot Sport AS+'s and you could tell they were AS tires, the best ones, but AS tires still. I will swap out back to my Pirelli's for the next time I think. I'm still all stock and just want to get a good feel for the track and my car before I change anything for "better". I need another set of wheels. Maybe I will just get some SVT Drifts, put the Pirelli's on them and use them for the summer.

Nice! Glad you had a blast and kept it shiny side up. It always amazes me how many cars they let out on the Ring at the same time. No wonder there are so many accidents. Plus it is a technically challenging course, particularly with open passing!
I love the video from the Vette. Perfect example how a well driven Vette will leave majority of cars out there in the dust. I noticed he took it really easy in the carousel though. Was that just to be safe? I know he could have pushed it harder in the banked curves.
Totally Jelly.

Looks awesome - glad you were incident free as well! I give the folks who know every turn on that track huge props, as I know how long it takes me to learn a new track and get quick, consistent lap times... and I usually have 8-15 turns, not ~75 corners!!
Glad Harry's Lap Timer worked too!

It was so amazing. I can't wait to go back. Everyone there is pretty cool. The Porsche dudes are the coolest. Most of them will give you a ride around it you ask. Especially if you offer to fit the bill for the lap. I can't wait to go back.

Yeah that's the guys. They went to go shopping and then were heading back this way. I am addicted. The next time I go will be a little different because I will be more focused on driving and less on the rest of the circus there. Ha ha. I decided that I am going to get the MGW. After struggling a little to get into the correct gear I don't want to mess with it anymore. Just driving around the Barton is okay. When you are running through the gears with purpose.....not so much.
