Question Noise

I have a '12 Mustang V6 and noticed an annoying noise that starts at about 50mph. It sounds almost like when little rocks hit the side of the car but it's coming from the area around the top back edge of the driver's window. I'm wondering if it could be that plastic strip that runs across the outside on top of the roof from the front windshield to the back window.. wondering if it may be slightly loose. That's where the sound seems to be coming from. It's like a clipping sound. Took it to the dealer a few days ago but of course, while I drove the guy around it was as quiet as could be

Any of you guys experience this or have any ideas of what it could be?

Thanks!

you might want to try resetting the window height. check the manual to see how to do it.

Check this thread on another forum, post number 4. I had the symptoms described in that thread (similar possibly to your issue), and the solution in post 4 solved it for me.

I have a 2012 GT and I hear the same EXACT noise. I just made a post about it like 2 days ago. Please tell me what the solution is if you fixed it. This noise is very annoying

Oh, yeah. Sorry. Forgot to copy the link. Instead, here is the text from the other post:

Well I think I've found it. I removed all four of those little rectangle plastic clips they put over the drains at the bottom of the door and the noise is gone. So I'm posting just in case someone else hears such a road noise.

Looks like another board posting was trying to figure out what they are really for anyway... seems like a good question:

Hey codeoverride,

I can escalate this for you if you’d like. If you do, send me your current mileage and best contact number.

Hi Will3212,

I recommend you call your CSM back and advise him of this. Also, you should make an appointment with your dealer to check this noise and the suspension one as well.

I did the whole window height reset thing but the noise is still there.

I saw the rectangle plastic pieces that were mentioned on the bottom of the door. It sounds like it's coming form the top but maybe I'll try to tape it down to see if the noise goes away.

Please let me know if you find a solution Will3212
