I love when someone tries to talk down to me because their car is "better." I'm very good at killing them with kindness and making them really feel like the ****** they are, lol. Even get a lot of apologies that way.

I see a few Mustangs with regularity on my way to work (I come home around 2AM, if I see 1 car the entire trip home it's a lot) and they always flash their headlights\wave\thumbs up, and I always return it. I work with a Dr. who regularly asks about what I'm driving (he has a 2001 Cobra himself), and always talks to me like an equal. Haven't run into any jerks (about what I drive, anyhow) in the local Mustang crowds.

Ran into a lot of them in the Camaro crowd when I had the '10 V6 Camaro though, but there were still more good guys than bad.

That's the problem! I was making some phone calls and was talking to this lady and said "yes mam", then she said oh my gosh I feel so old now that you called me mam! I was like uhhhhh sorry?

Moral of the story mam makes women feel old so don't do that stuffs. Although it didn't help that she sounded like she was 7000 years old.

Not to start or add fuel to the debate but the v6 mustangs get respect from few. I was at a car show this past weekend and a guy in a 2012 boss parks next to mine. Less than 4000 miles on the car. Looks great and I talk with him. He goes on to say how a few shows back he was upset he didn't win anything, his car is a boss and should win because it is what it is. My personal opinion is that his boss is a waste of engineering just sitting in the garage but to win car shows just because he bought a boss... really?

I never win at car shows just because my car is a v6. I put effort into my car, daily drive it, autocross with it and detail it. I know it is the v6 that is the problem because people say great looking car and when I tell them it is the v6 they have a disgusted look about them or disappointed.

Some Mustang owners are great and there are many on these boards. Some are just jerks (most end up banned). I enjoy all mustangs and I think any true enthusiast would too.

I have had my car in 2 Shows, presentation is important and if the cars are scored it does not matter what it has for a motor. I beat out GT's and GT500's both times and took home the trophy for my class.
Both shows were put on by our local MCoA affiliate and the judging was done by owners of Mustangs.

Yes, a fair, judged show based on points does allow any engine to win. It's the People's Choice shows that will always go to a V-8. I helped tally the votes at such a show one time and it was a shame how a very well restored '67 Mustang with the straight 6 didn't get as many votes as it deserved.

Another thing I don't like is a show that doesn't have separate classes based on year. It is hard for a car that was built 50 years ago to compete with a car so new it is still wearing the paper plates when using a standard point system.

Last night I was pulling into walmart when I spied a race red 10' gt500 parked. Older man sitting in driver seat. So I parked a few spaces away. Got out and looked at him, he looked at me and I then said "nice car" with a smile....nothing. Not a head nod, not a wave, nothing. I came back out minutes later and he was still sitting there and didn't even look at me when I got in my car.

Anytime someone tells me nice car or asks about my car I at least give a thank you. I believe a nice car is a work of art and people like to look at them.

I can't begin to count the times people have gawked or shown appreciation for my car. Every time it makes me feel great about my car. So when I show a fellow enthusiast my love and I get nothing...Makes me a little sad.

Just figured I'd share my experience.

Amen. I also hate when I go to a classic car show, where almost everything is like '78 or older, and some guy in a new Porche, Hellcat, GT500 etc pulls in and lifts the hood and gets an attitude because they didn't win anything when his car is "obviously better."

I've seen a lot of V6 Mustangs that would get my vote long before my own GT would. Some people just do it right. And with newer cars (90-present), if it's basically stock I'm not really impressed. Anyone can just drop a wad of money on what someone else made. I prefer to see what people made to make the car their own and judge based on that more than anything.

The hate is real for V6 Mustangs. Usually it's members of the car community who aren't particularly big fans of Mustangs to begin with, but a lot of the time it's GT owners as well. Even with a big turbo and tons of suspension work I frequently get statements like "but it's still just a V6" and "why would you waste your time on that (insert expletive here)." Luckily it's just a vocal minority. Most members of the Mustang community and the car community as a whole can appreciate a car no matter what it is.

We have a local cruise, the Camaro, Corvette, Viper, Challenger and even some of the Classic Mustang people will talk to the Lowly V6 guys, but the GT guys in our area would drown if it rained and they got stuck out in it

I like anything if it's modded tastefully. V6s tend to not be...but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate a nice one when I see it. Most of the sixers on this site are very nice. If I had all the money in the world, I'd have a couple modded V6 Mustangs just because.

My first Mustang was a hand me down V6 Auto from my mom though. You won't believe the hell I got in high school for that car. So you won't see me badmouthing any V6 owners, even the not tastefully modded ones (nor the non-tastefully GT or GT500 owners for that matter). I actually learned from my mom that if I don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all. That is unless I don't care for the owner him/herself. Then all bets are off

My wife isn't helping me out any. When she is at work or at the beauty shop and they start talking about cars. She has been telling people, my husband has long tube mufflers (for long tube headers) and a CNN air filter (for C&L c.a.i.) on his Mustang.
