Nice pics of GT and V6

Here is some pics of the GT and V6 from over at SVT. Just can not get into that hood and front end. Just looks to rounded and soft. Pic of the select shift also.

Looks like Ford hit a home run with this redesign.

The one thing I cant get over and that I keep staring at intensely is what appears to be a smiley face on the front grill. If you look hard enough, the headlights/foglights and lower grill area combine to look like a smiley face. What has been seen cannot be unseen and it's buggin the hell out of me.

I'm an art director by trade- i spend a lot of time thinking about design, and evaluating design . I have a lot of interest in industrial design, and am always intrigued to see where things land - historically speaking- when the dust finally settles.

In some ways I like the design refresh...I mean, I love Mustangs- I've been eagerly waiting to see, etc... Theres a lot of excitement right now, with the added power, and the technological advances (sync, etc) But I started really looking at the photos today, and comparing with the 05-09 S197 design, and I'm sorry, I just can't get past it- the older cars look SO clean- the lines are tight, and everything is in the right place. The new ones have so many extra bulges and lumps and bumps.... I'm talking especially about what's going on with the front and rear of the car- it just bugs me.

Not to say I wouldn't want one but I can't help but think that when we look back at these cars 20 years from now, it's going to be the 05-09s that are considered the true classics, in terms of design. They just have a design integrity that Ford has tried to refine and recapture a couple times now, but I don't know if it will ever get much better- for *this* particular design. And people have already tweaked and personalized things with all the aftermarket body kits that are available - Eleanor, Roush, Saleen.. They are all beautiful, and are variations on that very clean theme.

Just my morning rant, take it or leave it...

I'm warming up to the 2013s. I still say the GT needs something in the lower fog light opening so it won't look weird. I hate seeing a blank plastic panel, looks like you were too cheap to get the option. And you shouldn't see that on a GT IMO. Other than that I'm really liking it. Not enough to trade though. Oh and the OP should have put 2013 in the title. Even though I knew it was pics of the new cars.

I'm sorry but this:

reminds me too much of this:

Maybe the 2013 will grow on me as much as the 2011, but right now I don't like it one bit.

man I love the Shelby front end on the 2010-2012, but I'm liking the '13 front less and less, and I don't even care about the lights that people are making a big deal of

2013 looks like Fords tribute to Mustang II front end.

Since 2005 the s197 had inset grill and a overhung hood being front of car same as 65-73 Mustang.

Mustang II was first Mustang that had a plastic Grill surround or snout and the leading edge of hood was behind that.

it's ok, but it doesn't float my boat for the GT or the V6. I do however like the Boss and the Shelby

The Shelby is the best looking of the 3 and the boss looks pretty nice but I really don't like the front fascia ... its looks to me that they slightly modded the newer gt500's and stuck fog lights in the grille

I think the newer ones were fine but I do love the tail lights and rear bumpers on all the cars.. I hope an aftermarket company makes those lights for the s197's..

I guess it will grow on me but before you know it the new remodel in 2015 will srive and I wonder how they will look

Surprisingly, I really like the 2013 model. Of course, the picture above, taken with a wide-angle lens, doesn't do anything but make the front end look fat and bulbous; having seen a couple 2010-12 Shelbys in person, though, the front end looks much better than the pictures suggest.

Ah, I see your point, even though visually the shapes are quite different.

Ford may have had a surplus of 2010-11 traction control buttons and used a couple of them to build, presumably, non-sellable, pre-production models.
