To the nice officer with the 2010 Mustang.. I hope you have a great weekend.

I took a turn faster than I should have (right at limits of traction), then floored it, shifted to second, floored it. Then I caught myself, tried to slow down, but got tangled up with my flip-flop and the accelerator for a split second before slowing down. Kind officer scolded me for my actions, then told me he had a 2010 mustang and that we should race sometime just not the streets. ...and that I should drive more safely, before leaving. He revved at me in jest, and I revved back and waved, still a little shaken and terrified.

To: The kind officer, in case you visit these forums,

I know, and you probably know, that the momentary tangling of my flip-flop did not make me peel through that turn or gun it after the intersection. It made it harder to slow down for a moment, but that's it. I was too busy being terrified and looking for excuses so I ended up emphasizing that as the reason everything happened.

The truth is, this car is just too fun to drive, and sometimes I let it go by accident. I think you must have let me go because you must feel the temptation sometimes as well. I'll be more cognizant while I'm driving in the future, but thank you very much for letting me off.

I hope you have a great weekend, and I hope you enjoy your mustang, sir.

Sincerely,
Steve

Wink rant

Whenever I see some one driving in flip-flops I either say or think:
WHAT THE HECK ARE YOU THINKING!!!!
I have never, ever worn any "loose shoes" to drive.
---rant over---

Completely agree. Black and white difference between here and m3post/e90post (BMW).

The mustang guys only fight on occasion, and always end up fine. I love the Mustang community

great to hear that he gave you some leniency. I do hope that you did learn from the warning though!

I love stories that teach a lesson and have a happy ending. Something rare these days.

I can't walk in flip flops, never mind drive!

Good that it was only your pride that was hurt and no you/the car/someone else......and great that the officer took the approach that he did.

When I have flip flops on I take them off and driver with bare feet. I know that's illegal but it's much easier. Haha

I always like taking the flip flops off and driving with bare feet instead, if I do not have shoes that tie very well onto my feet. I hate usng shoes to play the organ. AGO pedalboards have 2 and a half octaves of pedals. I figure that if I do well with that many pedals, when I only have three to worry about in the Mustang, not using shoes is fine. I like the feeling of the pedals with no shoes. It is safer than wearing unsafe footwear.

I know you're joking but since you jogged my memory: Anyone needing racing shoes on a budget, just pick up some wrestling shoes for cheap. Unless you are getting paid to race they will work as well on the track and hold up decent. The only downside is you can't wear them working around the pits, grabbing track food or hitting the john. They wear out very quickly when walked in.

This may sound crazy, but I love driving in "Chuck Taylor's" (Old Converse Hi-tops). That being said, in the summer heat of Texas I find myself wearing flip flops often.

This thread is full of win.

Sidenote: I drive in my steel-toe work boots.
