New Guy Planning On Ordering A 2012 Soon

Hi guys/girls just joined the site today. I'm Planning on ordering a 2012 Mustang GT Premium in the next couple of weeks and want to know what everyone thinks of my choice of options.

The following is a list of the current options I'm thinking of.

GT Premium Coupe
6 Speed Manual
Red Candy
Rapid Spec 401A with Charcoal Black & Cashmere
Reverse sensing system/security package
3.73 Limited Slip
Brembo Brake Package

Does anyone have opinions on options I should add or remove.

Thanks Everyone

The glass roof is nice but will put me above my price range.

I thought about the HIDs but I don't really like how they look. I prefer the split turn signals on the normal lights. Plus my mom has a 2010 V6 and the regualar lights work really goos on hers.

Sorry but not a big fan of white.
I actually want to take delivery of the car after my birthday which is in the begining of May, because the cost of my insurance will drop significantly.

Don't really like how the HIDs look. Do they really make that big of a difference?
Same with the electronic package as the glass roof too expensive
I have Brembos listed see above.

HID's are on a completely different level than the stock halogen lights. Literally a night and day difference.

Not sure where you live, but bun-warmers are nice on leather in the winter. The comfort package adds the heated seats and gives you a power passenger seat.

Looks really nicely optioned...a lot like my 11 but I didn't get the Brembos. I think the HIDs perform really well, but I didn't get them because of the price and just not crazy about the look. My old-school lights work good enough for me...and lets me spend the $525 on other mods.

Good luck!

I live in PA but plan to store her for the winter. The salt and cinders are just too bad plus I probably won't even be able to get a RWD car out of my driveway in the winter haha.

I also think having a power passenger seat would be a PITA when trying to get someone into the back seat. I don't know if the '11s are different but on my parents '10 in order for a normal size person to get in the back seat you must tilt the back then pull up on the seat adjuster bar to slide the seat all the way forward. So with the electric you would need to tilt the back then stand there and hold the switch for a minute till the seat moved far enough ahead.

I don't know why its not the same setup as in my 1995 Bronco, just hit the lever and the seat tilts and slides all in one motion.

I know what you mean..I'm originally from central PA and if at all possible (if I had another vehicle to drive around through the winter muck to take the brunt of salt, rocks, and other bad drivers), I'd certainly store it over the winter...I hate those cinders getting kicked-up by other vehicles. They do bad things to paint!

Sounds like you could save the cost of comfort package and use it for future mods! I know what you're saying about the seat...can be a bit tight. There is a lever to easily put the seatback all the way forward, but if you need the seat bottom to go forward for clearance as well, you have to use the electric seat button. Fortunately, I'm not tall so my seat is always forward a bit which leaves plenty of space for passengers to enter/exit.

I got the electronics package because it is so hard to get later as a mod. Either way, I am going to have to have my droid handy for GPS and other stuff since my other cars do not have GPS. It works really well. But, the big screen does look neat and hopefully that app thing on the 2012s will work out to be good. Some people really love their electronics package.

I got the HIDs because the extra light does make a difference. I was driving through ST Louis in the middle of a really bad thunderstorm in the summer of 2009. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why a city that has so much rain is so woefully unprepared for it. The lane markers all become virtually invisible at night with all the reflections, since they only are painted and do not have reflectors marking the lanes. Compare this with cities in Arizona where it almost never rains. Here we have reflectors marking all the lanes so that the very few times when it does rain each year, you can clearly see the lanes without worrying about headlights or other stuff obscuring the road. Sorry to get a bit off track, but seeing the road is very important. Whether it is off in the middle of nowhere, or in numerous cities that have woefully bad highways, I like being able to see as well as possible.

I also got a backup camera because they look neat, and it is just safer to see everything behind you to make sure a kid did not throw anything in the path of the car since I last checked. As good as you can see without one, I like having the camera. I know that a camera and reverse sensing might be overkill, but it was not much more to have them both than to have just the backup camera.

I am one of those that got the 3.55 gears. For me, that is the best balance of power, traction, fuel economy, and shifting.

I did not go with the comfort package because in this heat, colling would have been better.

Also: I have lived in the snow before and have seen plenty of salt and sand put on roads, but what cinders are you talking about? Here you have to worry about small rocks pelting your car summer or winter, but cinders what is that about?? I usually make it a point not to travel back east in the winter so I have not seen it snow there since I last lived back east about 20 years ago.

Cinders are like lava rocks...except crushed-up real small. They use them on the roads for traction...but they eat paint because they are constantly getting kicked-up by other vehicles. Here is a link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cinder

That's a good idea to avoid PA in winter if you like your paint chip-free! I also agree with your recommendation on the back-up camera...those are pretty cool. The one in the stang I test drove before ordering mine was probably one of the best out there. My F-150 has sensors, and my wife's car has the camera and now I miss those since I didn't get it on my stang. Definitely handy if you like the look of the spoiler you get with the camera.

PennDOT puts cinders down to chip the paint off your car then the salt can get at the metal to rust it away

The cinders they put down in PA are just really small pieces of limestone gravel.

Maybe PennDOT is in cahoots with the auto industry so we spend more money fixing our cars...or buying new ones! Growing up there, the ones they used by my home were black and perforated...just like lava rocks you see for landscaping...except crushed-up into little bits. After just a little driving through the slush, they would get caked on your car in a black frozen abrasive chunk in your wheel-wells and all over the bottom. They are terrible for your car...but I guess they're better than careening off the road or into oncoming traffic.

All the more reason why you should move to sunny AZ. Great driving weather all year and absolutely no problems with rust. Sure you have to deal with some heat, but it is worth it.

AZ weather is great...I was able to spend 3 years at Ft. Huachuca in Sierra Vista...beautiful weather! Had to keep an eye out for those scorpions, though!

Depends on use, if you are going to track the car then keep the brembos, if not ditch the brembos and get the electronics package.

No reason to pay so much money for brake and tire changes if you aren't going to be racing the car.

my 2cents.

Any reason you aren't gettig the comfort package? Nice having dual power and heated seats.
