new console

Lots of talk about the new dash, maybe I missed te console......

Looks like the new console is higher with a recessed shifter boot, ala 64-68 (no raised armrest) but taller. Also looks a little thinner for knee room?

the hole interior has a leaning forward look, i first noticed it with the door armrest. it looks nice and i hope it has good ergonomics.

edit: also i notice the lack of the contrasting stitching which will make a few happy however i like the contrast. the transition from the control panel to the console does not look all that great in the first picture.

The 2010 pic you show is a development mule of base trim. The IUP w/ aluminum ( like the pic that Ford released on Wed. ) will have contrast stitch.

And the console will fit to the dash much better in 2010 than in 2005-09.

I like the chrome release button and the chrome shifter ring. Today's console looks way too black and plasticky IMO.

If the center console is higher, then shouldnt the shifter appear shorter? Or did they just make the shifter taller as well?

Even for a development mule in base trim, looks like there is a lot to like in the new interior!! Can't wait to see the whole thing "in the flesh"...

The 12Volt hole is on the right side you can barely make it out...its just to the right of the shifter on the side...does anyone else see that and believe thats what it is

not seeing it but looking for it i noticed comparing the two, the stack appears different in positioning and structure. the clear picture appears to curv going into the console where as the other one seems to have a sharp bend.

The centerstack and console are completely different from 2005-09 to 2010. The centerstack is the same one used in the Flex ( albeit a differently shaped panel ) and the console now curves into the centerstack, like the 1967-68 models did.

I was wondering where they put the power point(s), too.

Not seeing what you suggest, but that could just be old eyes...
