Need advice on 2010 deal

Hello everyone, first time posting. Have been browsing the site almost everyday since I heard about the new 5.0 last year. I have had my heart set on getting a 2011 base GT sometime later this year. But there is this really nice '10 GT I have been looking at for several months now. It just pushes all my buttons every time I see it. Have been talking to a salesman for about 3 weeks now and the best he says he can do is about 28,200 out the door. But, every time we talk they lower the price just a little more. So I know there is still room. I purchased my last 2 vehicles from this dealership and had pretty good experiences on both. I feel like they can do much better on the price. Other dealerships are advertising 8500 off in the Houston area and i have the $750 bonus cash mailer. Oh, and I'm pretty sure they have had the same lineup of about 9 2010 GT's for at least 3 months and have not moved any. They have sold the two 2011 GT's they got in and several 2011 V6's. I really wanted the 5.0, but as others have said, if the deal is sweet enough I can't pass on the '10. So, think its a good deal? Any advice? Thanks!

just like one here, every single option (minus going crazy on wheels) talkin nav, saddle, glass roof, auto, backup camera, etc etc etc

msrp was like 37500, ans they were asking 30995, and im sure u could go lower.

but even then i couldnt do it, knowing i can have an 11.

go in with a preapproved loan or something for 26, see what they do

What is the MSRP on this car you're looking at?

So they've currently lowered to $28,200. What are you willing to pay? It's simple. You just tell the salesperson that if he can lower it to (for example) $26,000, then you will sign for the car the next day. Definitely say something like, "I really like the car, but it's above what I'm willing to pay for it. I have been quoted a price to my liking for a 5.0 at (name of another local dealership). If you cannot meet my price, I understand, and I appreciate your time. Thank you."

In which case, the salesperson will likely either match your price or quote you a new price that's as low as he can go.

By the window sticker, it looks to me like that car has been been on someone's lot for a YEAR. Seems like they'd wanna move it by now. Don't know about the GT, but there was a price increase on the V6 around the first of the year, so an early car's MSRP was lower by a few hundred dollars ($400?).

I am having a hard time deciding at what price the '10 is a better buy than a base '11 GT (at invoice hopefully).

50th Anniversary in 2014

I was having the same delema as you are right now...

Struggled for 6 months, made the decision when I found EXACTLY what I wanted, a 2010 Sterling Grey GT premium w/ track pak only... MSRP 33,400 and paid 29000 "out the door" (delivery, tax, tags, all the bs, etc). Then I refinanced @ 3.75%. Couldn't pass it up. Extra cash used for mods.

Another point I struggled with is the new power train, worried about issues / recalls. Wonder why they're all still sitting in area 51? I'd be pissed right now if I actually ordered a 5.0 like I was going to.

I'm waiting for 50th Anniversary in 2014. Same power train w/ new body style => best choice for me, and having fun while I'm playing the waiting game.

I assume these quoted prices all factor in the available rebates, which aren't available with the 0% financing - which are / have you gone with?

I looked at one for $28,300, which included all rebates. I said give it to me for that price with 0% and I'll take it - so far, they haven't budged.

For Texas its $3000 in rebates. I will deal with financing after I feel like the bottom line price of the car is where it needs to be in order to justify getting a '10 premium over a base '11. What I am needing help deciding is where that magic number is. I am thinking no more than 26k otd for this car. Just wanted others opinions.

if you go to http://www.motortrend.com/new_car_price_reports.html they have this awesome feature to show how much others are getting. it'll tell you how offers are locally and nationally, it gives you a good idea of what others are getting theirs for.

Sounds as though you got them down to dealer cost less the rebates, plus tax, no? Have you seen truecar.com? I think it's a good price, but feel that if you are willing to take the gamble, you can do better next month - it's costing the dealer to keep the car on the lot, and it will be less desirable as the '11s are more readily available. I'm hoping to see Ford offer dealer cash, which could get passed on to the buyer.

Bottom line, is losing this car worth the possibly of saving another $500?

Did you check the paper today to see what deals are listed? Also call Planet Ford in Spring and the one in Humble (I'm located in Kingwood) and see how much they are offering off the 2010's they have on the lots. I know they don't have the one you want but that may help you determine what your best deal could possibly be.

I check the paper everyday. The best i have seen is 8500 off. So that is what I was shooting for (plus the $750 mailer from Ford). I'm going to go to the dealership tomorrow and see if they will drop the price anymore. End of the month SALESATHON!!!! We'll see what happens.
