Nav/Sync Issue-Black GT

Have a 4 day old 2011 Mustang GT (delivered) with the Nav/Sync option. Plugged in my IPod Nano first day and index uploaded and worked great.
Next day stopped working. At first would not even see it. Reset the system and went back to factory defaults. (had to re pair my BB Curve but no big issue) Yesterday got on the syncmyride.com site and downloaded and ran the "Sync my ITunes" software. Ran ITunes and resycned my Ipod. Reset my Ipod.
So get back in the car today and index downloads, music library is there, shows songs, timer comes up. Even the voice commands work. No matter what I try the song will not start. Turned autoplay on and off. However should not have made a difference. Pushing start icon just puts in pause.
Bought my Nano in Feb. Not sure if it is 4th or 5th generation. Has the FM radia and video camera.
Just weird it works the first day and then stopped. Dealer wants me to bring it in. Gotta be something I missing.

Anybody have any ideas.

Do they play on the ipod itself? Also, if you don't have all the songs indexed properly, they wont play. At the very minimum you need the artist's name, title and genre filled out. The obvious thing is to be sure to turn on the volume on both your ipod and in the stang.

If you write to Steve, he'll tell you you are holding it wrong.

If the dealer right off says bring it in for an Ipod problem, they may be knowing more than you do. Mine did weird things the first couple times I put in the USB stick (in two different vehicles), but then it worked and no problems since.

I've had a similar problem lately with my iPod not playing in my car and just staying on pause. It usually stays paused for around five seconds on a song and then skips to the next song and repeats the process. When I re-sync my iPod it works, but I'm still waiting for an update for it as it keeps randomly reoccuring when I get in my car. I've had my car for a year and have not had any issues until recently.

I'm not telling anyone to throw their iPod away, but based on many, many messages I've read on another forum a simple flash drive usually is more compatible with Sync than an iPod is. I understand some people must use an iPod because their music is in Apple's format rather than MP3. But if your files are MP3, a flash drive may give you less trouble. Good luck.

I thought you were still able to play Apple files from the hard drive as well. At least that's what I was told anyway. The files are just a form of AAC and AAC is listed as compatable. This means nothing though.

I just looked at the manual for Sync and you are correct, it will play AAC files. The catch is if they are copy protected. For instance, if you used iTunes to rip your own CD's, they won't be copy protected. But if you bought songs as downloads from the iTunes store, they will be copy protected, meaning they will play through an iPod but not from a hard drive or flash drive.

That's what I thought. I figured if they were the Apple files they then were no longer the non protected AAC files. Therein lies the format naming issue. Oh well. I hope I can get mine to work with my iPod, I don't have the time/money/patience to change at this point.
