My stock 18' inch wheels and tires keep losing traction
I have the stock all season 18 inch wheels and tires on my 2012 mustang. I lose traction and spin the tires in 1st gear and sometimes in reverse even with the traction control on. Can this damage the car at all? I was thinking about upgrading them to the nitto summer tires.
Lol just messing with ya man. You know it's a V8, it's got a lot of power, and these tires suck in cold weather so it's to be expected if you're not careful. Just tonight I broke traction in 3rd at 40mph trying to merge onto the highway with my 18" Pirelli's. It's 29 degrees out, anything under 40 degrees with the all season Pirelli's you gotta play it safe. Just remember, our cars have a lot of torque...a little goes a long way sometimes.
Edit: no it's not bad for the car and don't upgrade to summer tires until summer lol.

I would suggest practice using the clutch better. My tires never spin unless I really want them to or I am playing around....... The clutch is not simply an on and off device. It can be slipped a bit for control. Mine are the stock all season 19's on the GT/CS.

What's the air pressure in your rear tires ?
