My Opinion on 2010 After LA Auto Show Visit
I saw the 2010 Mustang yesterday at the LA auto show, and I was definitely IMPRESSED. If you like the way the car looks in pictures, then you will like it even more in person. The black plastic does make the car seem smaller. It also DOES NOT standout as much as it does in the pics we see online. I forgot it was even there until I remembered to check for it. The rear does not look out of place and that concave shape is really nice to run your hand across. The hip is awesome because it subtly stands out, while making car look very muscular. The leaning forward grille is one of my favorite features. The pony logo and the rest of the grille is actually angled toward the ground, very agressive.
Secondly the interior is nice and feels very solid. For those concerned about the armrest, don't worry because the center console is raised up so it acts as a armrest. I felt very comfortable in the car. High quality materials are evident. The car has great visibility too, especially when compared to the challenger which I also sat in.
Speaking of the challenger, MAN THAT THING IS HUGE! I had never sat in one before until the show and it felt like a boat. Looks good though, just not for me.
As for the camaro GM didn't even let anyone sit in it lol. They kept it up on its little pedestal. Isn't it supposed to be a production car?? It was shown like 3 years ago and you still can't even get up close and personal with the car! From what I saw it looked very plastic-y (Best word I could invent for it). I don't know to me the car just doesn't look good in the real world.
The people in Mustang Alley were really nice and they even handed out free 2010 Mustang hotwheels! Some of the accesories look pretty cool, but I'm not sure on the stripe package yet. I like the old stripe package better so far. Lastly, Kona blue looks really really good.
Feel free to add opinions if you've seen the car up close, or ask me any questions.
Its going to awefully hard to wait on the 5.0

A great PLUS at the LA Auto Show, and I hope they bring it to Orlando, for our viewing on the 26th here, is the "Mustang Garage Team". They modded the 2010 in under 10 minutes at LA. And yes they had a Billitt Grille w/o fog's. First thing they changed out. Supposedly, available direct from FORD!!!!!!

I also just got back from the show and agree with Stangfoeva for the most part. The black plastic did not stand out that mush and the grill looked pretty good. THe best angle on the car is the 3/4 view from the back b/c the hip looks so good. What surprised me the most was how much I didn't think the interior was that much better. Don't get me wrong it IS better than the 05-09. All I'm saying is that I was not as blown away by it as I thought I would be. Hard plastic, soft plastic? Who gives a ****? It's a muscle car!
About the Camaro: I completely agree with you on the plasticy interior. The 2010 Mustang by far has the best quality and best looking interior out of the three muscle cars.
A side note: One thing that bothered me was the customizers kept picking people who added everything they could onto the car instead of things that actually looked good. That giant hood scoop is ridiculous and black side scoops and louvres don't look that great on a red car! The last one I saw them do was designed by a 14 year old girl! c'mon!

Boy the day doesn't go by that I don't feel anger and remorse about buying my Mustang when I get in my Mustang and feel up my hard and gritty dashboard.
What makes it worse is when I blow away an import in an impromptu stoplight race, the import owner has the last laugh when he finally catches up and pulls up next to me, points to his dash and squeezes it, showing off his superior dashboard squishyness and promptly laughs in my face! Makes me feel bad about myself.

Yes, because squeezing the dash and feeling it squish is the most important feature of any car. Always squeeze the dashboard first to gauge it's softness. It is more important than, handling, horsepower, gas mileage or styling.

And the steering wheel felt VERY SOLID (Meaty lol)

You just can't compete in this marketplace with a sh!tty interior anymore. Not when the Hyundai Genesis and 370Z have soft dashes as well. You need the nice interior for the success of the car.
The cushion of a soft dash makes a big difference in eliminating annoying squeaks and rattles from the interior and allows for parts to fit together well and staying that way over time.
I also heard the int. designer say at the LA show that Mustang is one Ford that import owners may rent on vacation. So he said its a spokesman for Ford interiors, and if they communicate they can't put a decent interior in their flagship car, then what do you think Honda and Toyota owners will think of the rest of Ford's lineup? So its important for the Mustang as well as Ford.
I was at the LA autoshow Saturday. IMHO the interior, especially the console, is damned near perfect. It felt and looked great. The aluminum looked especially rich with a nice texture.
2 nits to pick: the door plastic still seemed hard and low(er) rent, nice inserts though!
And it seems all the door lock plunger recesses were painted(?) and scratched up. There were 1000s of butts getting in and out of them.....the interiors seem to be holding up well otherwise.
Oh, and the glass roof is HUGE even on the inside. Very cool, but I'd still prefer a convertible.

I can't say compared to the '05-'09 versions because I haven't sat in one of those in a while. I can say that I was very comfortable, felt like plenty of bolstering. Then again I wouldn't really know since I wasn't power sliding through a turn
