After 100 miles, grinding again on the 1-2 and 2-3 shifts, difficult to get into 1st when stopped, difficulty shifting from 6-5, and non-progressive clutch engagement.

There are over 900 posts from owners with the same problems at allfordmustangs.com and multiple safety reports to the NHTSA website. Land Rover Defender2 and Ford Transit Panel van owners overseas with the MT82 are also reporting the same issues.

At Ford's request, I'm bringing the car to, yet, another dealer tomorrow morning (7th time). If they can't fix it this time, I'm going to ask for a refund. I'd like to just ask for another car but there are owners with mid January 2011 builds reporting grinding at 300 miles so getting another 2011 may not solve anything. I'm so sad over this as the other aspects of the car are stellar.
Yeah i know about all your problems as i've read them over at AFM forums. Looks like you'll need to call Ford customer service and start going up the food chain.
Had a shimmy on my 2009 4WD Escape, brought it in and they found out that a TSB had been issued for the replacement of the driveshaft and 2 bushings, so they said fine we'll order the parts and call you back as soon as we have them in. Three weeks later, i called the dealership to know if the parts were in, he mentionned that they were on B/O with no ETA. WTF, i ain't asking for a gold plated driveshaft for god sake. Fine, i picked up the phone yesterday and called Ford customer service of Canada, very nice guy, he said can you hold on for a few minutes as i try contacting the general manager of the the dealership ! Who in their right mind would refuse !!!!! He said, he wasn't there, but i'll call again tomorrow and procedeed by telling me not to worry about anything and that he would have things taking care of by Thursday. Well guess what folks, i got a call this morning from the service director telling me that the parts were in........
That's how it works sometimes, gotta grab the bull by the horns.

Ford is replacing the whole transmission assembly on my car. Hopefully this resolves things for good.

I had my transmission replaced under warranty at 12,000 miles. These TR3650's can't take hard, aggressive shifting of any kind. It's a time bomb. Makes me wonder how folks with power adders get that power to the wheels without blowing up the tranny. Glad you got it replaced.

The lemon laws do work..I have used it twice, on a 03 Cobra, and a 06 Trailblazer SS. Once you have met the requirements under your state's law, your state's attorney general should have a website which gives the details, ie- they usually require a final demand letter sent directly to the manufacturer, file with the BBB and hold out for what you want, your money back or a replacement vehicle. Additionally, Ford was much easier to deal with than GM, which is why i bought another Mustang.

That's BS. The 3650 is a tough transmission. I rode my hard for 4 years.

Oops. That sounded like a Viagra moment. I meant to say that I couldn't destroy the 3650 after 4 years of trying.

Yes it is. Surprisingly they were able to install the new transmission only a few days after Ford gave them the "OK". I expected a week for the transmission to just arrive at the dealer. Loving the new tranny so far, I can definitely feel the difference. The shifts are still really notchy so I'm hoping it loosens up a bit over time.
