Why is this a bad experience?? He got a break and should be thankful, I think the officer was being courteous when he didn't necessarily have to be. That should give anyone an overall good opinion of LE.

FWIW, even if these exhausts say they are 50-state legal, they are NOT. Maybe on the emissions end but the Roush A/B's are extremely loud and I'd bet they are definitely above the sound regs in all 50 states. As far as what the officer stated, it could be true, I wouldn't go saying he's a bullshi*ter right away. You have all seen those signs "clean up after your dog, max fine $1000 and/or 30 days imprisonment" or "no dumping, $2500 fine". So, I know California to be harsh on emission and vehicle stuff so I'd venture to say there is a section of state, city, local, town, or village law where the actual section of law states the fine is some ridiculous amount. Does a judge ever impose the max?? Usually never.

As far as a written warning? I dont agree with them, we don't have them here in NY, but I know they do exist. And they usually are only for that Agency that gave you the warning, or other agencies that share the same database. For example if ABC PD stops you and gives you a written warning and you are stopped by them 2 months later and they run your plate, they will see it. If XYZ PD stops you, they wont know about it.

Hope the advice helps! Stay safe.

Some cops have nothing better else to do. That's good though he gave you a warning though. The 1500 dollar ticket though is a line of bs he is giving you. Did he ask you if you had cats?

The code in most states says that it is a violation for any aftermarket exhaust to be louder than stock. Mustangs are throaty even stock. That being said, 50 state legal refers to state emissions requirements

Why would you want your car to be louder? Leave the car alone. You should get the ticket.

What if the officer can't keep up with me when I'm at full throttle?
