My car won't talk to me anymore
SYNC just stopped working. If I press the voice button on the wheel, it doesn't ask for a command. It just scrolls through AM, FM, satellite, usb, etc.
On the other hand, phone still comes through the speakers, and I can still play the iPod using dashboard controls.
Ford phone reps say I need to bring it to the dealer. Any wisdom here? Has this happened to other people?

perform a SYNC rest?
Or I hear pulling/changing the Fuse works? ... check the manual, its probably in the passenger kickplate.
Performing a master reset will not only return all preference settings to the factory defaults, but it will also completely erase all phone book, call history and text messages previously downloaded to SYNC.
To access:
1. Press the PHONE button
2. Select the ‘Settings’ tab
3. Select ‘Advanced’.
4. Scroll and select ‘Master
Reset’.
5. SYNC will ask you to confirm. Press YES to continue. SYNC will confirm when the master reset is complete.

I was bored at work, asked Sync for ya.
you: Val, what happens if your sync voice is no longer heard through the system? I hit the sync button and nothing happens?
Val: Hello
Val: Are you able to enter the SYNC menus when you press the phone button?
you: Yes
you: I know how to perform master reset, but just wanted to check. This is not for my vehicle, for a friends experiencing this trouble.
you: 2011 Mustang V6
Val: Ok,
Val: You can also try pairing another phone to SYNC to see if the same thing occurs.
Val: This would help to determine the cause.
you: Should I pull the fuse to reset it?
Val: OK
Val: Also
Val: You could try the fuse reset.
Val: You might like to contact the local dealership for assistance as well.

Funny thing...this just happened to me. It also happened the second day I owned the car. Today I hit the button over and over with no response. Then I hit the Music note button on the oppisite side of the sync rocker and all of a sudden I got a response. Then the sync button started working.

Infrequently, my SYNC will not respond after starting the car. Pressing SYNC button does nothing, and cycling through the input options using the note button skips SYNC. Sometimes it will wake up after a few minutes for no apparent reason and start working. Usually the problem can be "fixed" by shutting the car off, opening the door, closing the door, and restarting the car. On next start, 9 times out of 10, it works normally again.
Other times the car will be on FM on startup, cycling with the note button skips SYNC, but the SYNC voice button still works. When this happens, asking for "USB" gets it working again.
SYNC seems to be generally glitchy. I'd be curious to find out if it works better with certain media players than others, though that would require a ton of testing.

Just went outside in the middle of the night to try it out. It works just fine.
Sweet Fancy Moses, I'm a moron.

Here's what you do. Take the car to the dealership anyway and trade it for a Mustang that doesn't have a SYNC system. You're driving a Mustang and those fancy girl gadgets have no place in this car. lol Just kidding man, glad you got it working.

I will buy Jack Stands!!!
I skipped the whole thread, I tripped Sync out in my mom's Escape and here's what we did to fix it.
Start car.
Pull Fuse.
Turn on RADIO
Turn off radio after listening for a few seconds
Turn off car
Re-Insert fuse
Turn car on
Turn Radio on
and then you should be all good again.
