Great to hear it.
Believe us when we say things can go a lot worse than that.
Your problems were very much the dealership trying to make a couple of extra bucks on the side.

Leaving the brand (whatever it is) always cracks me up because the brand really has nothing to do with most bad deals.

Exactly. People will believe what they want to believe though.

I must say.....after living in Phoenix and Tucson from '71 to '91, and then Safford from '91 to '07, I never could get good feelings from any dealers. I started dealing with the Ford dealer in Safford in '89 and had excellent luck there. I even considered going there from Fl. but came out here ok.

Glad it worked for you as having a happy wife is worth all the aggravation.

Glad to hear there was a "happy ending", and I hope you got yours.

LOL, maybe that's why it took him so long to get back on here and tell us how it turned out! He was BUSY!

I have yet to discover a half-way decent Ford dealership. Are you listening Alan?

As soon as you can get to come home for some photos, how about giving the TMS Universe some glimpses of the new pony...

glad to hear it ended well

Buying a car sight-unseen on a short time schedule is almost sure to result in the dealer playing games; they know they have you committed with no better alternative due to the time crunch.

I still hope there is a dealership out there somewhere that is up front and honest in their dealings, but I haven't actually experienced it yet.

It could have been way worse.... They could have assured you the car was what you wanted and you Show up and its the wrong color...

Bad dealership. Great Car. Great Surprise!

I bought a car for valentines day once. The deal wasn't bad, but it was a lot of work...plus keeping it from her. but it was all worth it. She loved it.

I buy a car about every year(maybe a few more in the past 2 years) and each time seems to get alittle worse. The fiesta went pretty well. I buy all my cars in phoenix because the locl ford store in flag is a sad little dealer with 15 cars on the lot.

you dont have to say the dealer but can you tell me what road its on? I avoid mesa and camelback road and do my buying on bell road.

OT, Just a little.

I agreed to pay MSRP for a 2012 Mustang, with a $500.00 deposit.

On transaction day, can they legally spring other fees on me, like Doc Fees? I would like to be armed with the fact's, when/if they try to JACK me around or overwhelm me with #s.

Unless you have it in writing by the sales manager or higher, as an out the door price, with nothing added on, you most likely will have to pay the additional fees.

Since you unfortunately bought the car already, I would immediately refi it for the 2.69%.

Yes, it will cost you a couple bucks a month but it will screw the finance guy and probably the salesman out of commission and possibly some bonus money too. Why reward jackasses who don't know how to treat someone making a $35,000 purchase? Does Best Buy treat you like this when you buy a $1500 TV?

I hate to say it but you made yourself an easy mark. Credit card deposit over the phone (that you could have got out of BTW), paying for rip-off dealer add-ons, they probably knew you were approved for $20K and didn't want to go over so you magically owed $20K and you didn't have a list of all the adds and their prices in hand for your own verification once you got to the dealer. Not to mention X-plan isn't any deal especially at the end of a model year.

MSRP?? Why?

Unless you have a signed sales contract, they can add fees that were not included in the quote (doc fees, dealer prep, etc.) at the time of delivery - the quote was for the car price alone. But, if you don't have a contract, you can still negotiate the price and fees. I put a $500 deposit on my order but when the dealer started screwing around with trade-in numbers at delivery I told them to refund my $500 and I would leave. That got their attention and we were able to make a better deal than what I was quoted when I originally ordered the car.

Yes, they can spring fees on you.
Why are you paying MSRP anyway? I assume its a Boss 302.
Since you already negotiated a good deal for them, just stand firm on it and tell them that was the "out the door price".
No matter what they say (at least for a few hours).
You can always "change your mind" and give in.
Tell them right now that is what you meant so you have no fighting on delivery day.
Worst case, at least you will know exactly what you are paying at delivery.
It is always best to finalize paperwork before delivery date.
They use the delivery as leverage to squeeze you for more money if you don't.
Finance managers all hate ME, instead of the other way around.

Having been in the business, I always negotiate on an "out the door" price up front so there is no confusion on either side of the table.

MSRP for a BOSS.

I will be visiting the dealer this week, to get an understanding between us in writing, that I won't pay one cent above MSRP "out the door price" will be MSRP or I flee.

I have already had this conversation with the salesman when I ordered the car last year, but all I have is an agreement in writing that states customer agrees to MSRP on BOSS 302, nothing about other fees or "out the door" price. I suspect on day of reckoning they will try to ambush me with other fees. I'm gonna stand my ground and if a pissing contest develops, I'll walk and find another dealer, even if I have to wait for a 2013 model.
