Mustang Black Plastic Dirt Magnet?

Has anyone else noticed if their black plastic trim gather up A LOT of dirt/mud/crap?

My Roush splitter is almost always covered in dust, just like the GT500 valance in that middle indented area. I use Mother's Back to Black everytime I wash my car. Does that somehow magnetically increase dust attraction?

Is there something that can be used to reduce dust gathering on the Roush splitters, kinda like how wax makes water bead and run off?

Just curious because my car is now garaged and stays clean and shiny, except my splitters are almost always brown-ish from a layer of wtfcrap.

Thank you.

I don't have this issue, I just wash it off like the rest of the car, and use Turtle wax ICE on it, and autoglym on the rest of the car.

That's probably it. It's pretty dry over here right now. Get a slight shock everytime I touch my dog or a light switch.

I haven't waxed it because I read that it leaves a white stain. Would I be applying the wax before or after Mother's Back to Black?

It has to be the Mothers Back to Black. It's probably like using Armor All on it.

See how it looks after a few washes without it.

I used 303 Protectant on mine, then went back and wiped off excess after a few minutes. Definitely don't want to give the dirt anything to cling to.

I have used 303 on mine too, it looks great right after you do it, but seems to turn grayish after a few days or a week . . . I'm wondering if there is something else to use on it that won't turn gray and also won't attract dust or hold dirt

I didn't see that with mine. Even now it's got a nice black appearance.

Come spring time, I'm going to try 1Z Cockpit Premium on the plastic. I was suggested this from a well known detailer in the area. It's a very natural finish, even more dull than 303, but on plastic, it protects very well.

Not a problem for me but I'll look at it in the spring. Mine attracts snow and slush

I don't puy anything on mine and it looks fine. I just wash it once a week with Zaino's wash. Now lately the pollen has been horrible in So. Fla but at least its not snow and slush , so I'm not complaining.

I definitely suggest putting something on it. Over time, it will fade unless properly protected.

I'll try 303 and see how it looks. Thanks for the heads up.

Do you use 303 on your dash also. If so does it ever look blotchy to you.

Tomorrow I will be trying Zaino Z-CS sealer on the entire car including the black plastic trim.

Under #7 in their FAQ's:
Can Z-CS be used on trim or porous plastic surfaces, like on a Chevy Avalanche's cladding?
Yes. Zaino Clear Seal works very well on surfaces including porous trim or plastic. Z-CS will protect the color and condition of the surfaces and help prevent fading or discoloration.

Yes it looks blotchy after you first apply it. After a few hours it looks uniform.
