Most 2011's on dealer lots don't have security package?

It should have the chipped key and remote lock and alarm. The horn will honk when the alarm is armed during forced entry.

Agreed. My 2007 Lincoln MkZ has the cooled seats and boy are they worth it ...esp on a hot 105 degree Texas day. The only thing I don't like about them is the thought of all that cool air blowing past my passenger's sweaty back side and into the rest of the car for all to enjoy. LOL! Guess I should not think about such things ...

I'm in the San Antonio area, and I used the heated seats quite a few times after I bough the car in mid-March. I was working at night so the car was cold when I got off. When your butt is warm, the rest of you feels warmer until the heat gets blowing.

I order all the Mustangs here and I add 43S and 53B to most every GT order. The cost for both options is small in the grand scheme of the total cost of a GT. Some places are crazy how they order the cars!! I just shake my head and wonder what are they doing?

I don't think tilt sensor and interior motion sensors are worth an extra $500. For that money you could get a Viper 5902 installed which does far more(including remote start).

It comes in @ $395. I think it's an excellent value, especially when you consider the integration.

Almost all of the in-stock units I've seen have had the security package. I ordered mine without it. Most of the cars stolen in my area are stolen because the owner left the doors unlocked and the keys in the ignition. Someone looking for a car to "joyride" in for a while will take one with the keys in it. A professional who is criminally skilled enough to steal a car that needs a chipped key will not be deterred by an alarm going off. Someone looking to steal your valuables and leave the car will smash a window, grab your stuff, and be gone before anybody can catch them anyway. I've seen vehicles in very public places in broad daylight who've been broken into. If the thieves aren't worried about being seen, they won't care that an alarm is going off, in my view.

which is why I ordered it without the security package and am having an aftermarket one put in with 2-way SMS. It doesn't matter if the crook or person trying to vandalize my car isn't concerned with the alarm going off...I'll know immediately that it's going off. That's more important to me.

I order a very small percentage of our Mustangs with the Security Package. Few customers ask for it, and when someone does we can easily trade inventory with other dealers in our region or special order the car from the factory. Personally, I've had car alarms and don't like them. I chose no alarm with my last few cars and went with LoJack instead. An alarm is just a deterent. LoJack lets them take the car and actually get caught in the act, thus sending the thief to jail. And the vast majority of LoJack recoveries are well under an hour and with no (or very little) damage to the car. Small price to pay to get some scumbags off the street.

Hey Brian, you do alot with LoJack in your area? Down here around me, LoJack isn't previlant at all, as the police don't have enough of the cars equipped to track it. The alarm systems on the Mustangs do well for insurance purposes, hence why I add it to every car on the lot.

LoJack is all over around here, and all up & down the West Coast. There are quite a few police cars equipped with LoJack receivers (4 small antennas on the roof in addition to the normall police antennas). Very gratifying to read the plentiful reports we get from area police departments of all the successful (and very quick) recoveries with the thieves still in the captured cars.

We're not so lucky here, as LoJack isn't a force at all.

Jeff;

How so? I checked the Lojack site and they claim coverage in Bucks, Montco, Phila, Berks and Chester counties and all of NJ. Just curious...

If you get a 'vert, it's supposed to be freaking awesome in the winter. I was going to get some installed in mine, even bought them, but then figured out that they would interfere with my side airbags.

i specifically ignored it on my 2010, wasn't worth the money, it would have taken 13 years to pay back the insurance discount, it was only like 30 bucks a year. the passive system counts for the most because it wont start the car without the coded key.

With the coded key the amateurs are taken care of.

A Pro will get it regardless.

You might make a case for the locking lugnuts that come with it. Again they eliminate the amateurs.
Of course they are $119 Retail though accessories and they can be gotten aftermarket for less.

Don't know if I missed this in the thread but does anyone know if the GT's still come with keyless entry if not equipped with the security package?

Edit: Nevermind, I found it. Looks like the 2011 comes with quite a bit standard.
