That's what it seems from my searching. Weird. I'd think it's an option that almost everyone would want. It also reduces insurance rates.

Think about it from the dealer's standpoint.
1. Less cars stolen = less cars purchased
2. If the car comes with factory active anti-theft, then the dealer can't sell an aftermarket one to the customer.

I want it! Won't buy one without it. I've put in too many aftermarkets to screw around with one this time.

That's something I specifically DIDN'T want, and most of the 10s left around me in March had it.

This is the most likely reason.

From what I've read, the oem alarm is pretty good with intrusion sensors and such.

Plus, as was said in another post, with the oem alarm it's already in the car and integrated into the systems and you don't have to mess with getting it installed.

I like mine. I rolled down the windows last week and armed the alarm. I stuck my hand in through the window just a few inches, it went off.

Why would you specifically NOT want the Sec Pkg? I mean, I wanted it, but didn't (at the time) think it was worth it due to the amazing discount I could get on a fully integrated system at my old job. After hearing that it works just as well as an aftermarket one, I would probably just get it. Although, I liked the iPhone app for Clifford and that there are a LOT of different features you can control with the newer systems, that the Sec Pkg doesn't allow you to do...

Love this new Clifford equip. Only thing is I'd want remote start but since mine will be a manual, just not worth it. Haven't looked too much into the new Cliffords, only briefly. Let me know if it's worth my while!

Even my old 2001 base v6 had the "chipped" key, remote lock and entry alarm as standard equipment. My '05 has all that plus internal motion sensors. Why would the 2011 come with any less? Go to a dealer and check them out in person...

I didn't want it because a) nobody pays any attention to a car alarm going off anymore; b) if the slickie boys want it, they're gonna get it; and c) I didn't wanna pay $395 or whatever it is for it. I also had the delaer take off the aftermarket one they add on all the cars.

They're still doing that?!?? I thought they quit doing that in the early 90s!

Man I can't believe dealers still do that crap in this day and age. I guess there will always be stupid people though. And I also guess it depends where you live. My car is inches from our front living room. I don't even need an alarm to hear it get broken into (which NONE of our cars have ever been broken into in the 23 years I've been alive) but if it did have an alarm, I'd be out there so quick....

One of the local dealers here has a $695 "Protection Package" they add that includes wheel locks. Good luck getting that discounted even when you order the Ford security package.

What exactly does the security package add to the car? From what I understand, it includes wheel locks, the tilt detection alarm and motion sensor alarm. What does the car come with standard? The regular lock remote but no alarm, or what? Sorry, my last mustang was a '98.

I didn't want the Security or Comfort packages at first.. but my fiance wanted me to get them and when I thought about it things made a little since. I don't normally park my car in "shady" type of areas but for my work I drive to a lot of different businesses in different parts of town so it's just a nice peace of mind option to have. For a bit extra the heated seats will be worth it to me, being a female I think I'm just naturally colder than everyone else or something.
