Lotsa new '14 purchases lately

I'm sure not everyone who has purchased a 2014 is a member here, but if this forum represents just a random sampling of new buys, then Ford and the dealers must be very pleased.

Do you think it's anti-2015 sentiment? I know in my case it was, and a really good deal sealed it for me. But even if Ford wasn't offering the $3K that applied in my case, I still would have moved forward on a 2014.

If TMS is any indication, the '14s seem to be selling like hotcakes.

What do you folks think?

Tom

There are always good deals during the last year of an 'old' design. The same thing happened in 2004 before the 'new' 2005 model. The dealerships need to clear the 2014 stock. Just wait until September, October roll around. The incentives will be even more appealing. Listen to this deal back in late 2004. A 'new' 2004 Mustang V6 premium convertible was available that had a window sticker of $27,000+. An 8 year old Pontiac was used as a trade-in for $6,500 (that was about average) and Ford was offering a rebate, plus the dealer had a steep discount of their own. That new Mustang (had 100 miles on the odometer from test drives) left the lot for $13,000 cash. The same type deals may be occurring now and certainly will be as long as the '14 models remain.

There were lots of late 2012 sales also (including me) when the 2013 front end was introduced.

I bough a 2014, custom ordered with just the options I wanted, because I don't like the 2015.

Research the history of the original (1968) California Special. This stuff has been going on for a long time.

I think it's because of the deals on them. I got almost $5000 off my V6. Final price was just a few hundred higher then I paid for my 2012 Focus.

I think I did OK....with the $3K in rebates I got almost $6500 off MSRP.

A couple days after I took delivery I got a coupon from Ford for $750 towards the purchase of a Mustang!!!!!! Talk about bad timing. But I s/w my dealer who contacted Ford, and they're sending me the $750 in a few days.

Wheels maybe?

I would actually be in a much better financial position to wait for a 15, but Ford discontinued the Glass Roof. I'm not entirely sold on the 15, but I could live with the exterior since the interior is much improved. If it was offered with the Glass a Roof, I would've ordered a 15. Instead, I pushed up my purchase to order a 2014 with the great discounts, but it's going to be a bigger monthly payment since I won't be able to put as much down. I can easily afford it, but I would be a lot more financially comfortable with a 15. Oh well, once I'm not upside down in this 14, which won't be long, I'll most likely trade it for a 16 GT350

We waited for the 2015 reveal before deciding on getting a 2014, and the deals when we shopped were great! I traded an 03 Lightning on our GT and went out of the door for $15k with Lowjack.

We actually just bought my wife a 2006 Pontiac GTO (she loves the LS cars) and paid more for that than we did our '14 Mustang GT.

I have to admit this sounds crazy. But I looked at cars.com and I can see it is possible, especially if you are just in love with that model. However...What is the deal with the value on these GTOs? Seems to be only 2006, and the values are all over the board? What gives one the value of a new car, and a comparable one at that?

I'll admit the GTO is a great cruiser car, and the LS2 "feels" stronger (fatter torque curve from the 6.0L) than even our 5.0 GT (although feel is subjective as we know for a fact the 5.0 is faster). The interior on the GTO's are great if they are free of the common defects, EG the split stitching on the leather, and the sagging headliners. The GTO we bought was a low mileage car and admittedly only cost us about $1k more out of the door than the Mustang (of course it isn't a fair comparison since I did trade a prime example 03 Lightning on the Mustang and actually got a great trade-in value, and I just walked in and bought the GTO with no money down). The GTO is a heavier car, but it carries its weight well and doesn't "feel" heavy. Of course to some the looks are pretty bland, although the wife's car is lowered and looks plain mean in the rearview mirror.

Alas, I digress...

So fare since Ford Showed us the new 2015 Mustang 2014 Mustang sales have gone through the roof. Month over months sales are hitting records according to automotive news. Over 10K last month.

I wanted a new 2015 till I saw it. I went and ordered a 2014. Over seas sales look like they will be strong but I am afraid Ford is going to have another Taurus on there hands here. JMO

No offense to the folks who are getting 2015's, but the styling isn't giving me the warm fuzzies.

I love the retro appearance of my 2014, love the 2005-07 styling even more...now they just scream Mustang.

I see no significant styling queues that suggest Mustang for 2015. In fact, it reminds me of the 76/77 Toyota Celica GT Liftback. I want my Mustang to look like a Mustang.

I bought my 2014 after i saw the 2015. Its not a bad looking car to me but i just think the S197's look better! Plus the thought of a Mustang that comes in right hand drive or left hand drive and sold to Everybody in the world doesn't appeal to me in the least! Maybe the 2016 GT350 will change my mined but i just feel the 2014 is somehow more American!

Ordered mine when I heard last summer that 14 was the last year of the S197 and the next model would be more European and a wide body. Speculated to look like the Fusion. I was afraid the new one would not be Mustang enough. Boy am I glad I bit. Love you 14, and have no desire to go to a 15. There are some nice features in that new car, but according the the pics I have seen, it is not as good looking as the 14. Still want to see one in person, but I will stay put with what I got.

Love my new 14! Get lots of looks and endless comments it looks like a Mustang should. The 2010-2014 look very Bad A** to me.
