Least expensive snow tires and wheels that will clear brembos

As the title implies - I'm probably going to need some cheap wheels/tires that will clear the stock brembos for my 2011 when I get it.

I'll be picking the car up in November and I live in Northern Italy. It only snows 2-3 times a year, but it does get cold and I don't really want to take the chance of smashing up my car. Anyone have any suggestions on a wheel/tire combo that won't break the bank?

I did a quick search but didn't find anything, thanks for the help gentlemen!

Oof, good luck with that man. I'm betting some takeoff 07-09 GT500 wheels and some 235/245 snow tires would do the trick. I know there are tires in those widths for Audis/BMWs, but I don't know snow tire models off the top if my head...

I don't think I would go "cheap" on tires, maybe on wheels. When i use snow tires I go with
Brodgestone Blizzaks and nothing else, I used them on 87 GN in New Hampshire/upstate New York...

never got stuck or had traction problems, ever...

Blizzaks was exactly what I was looking at earlier today. Not sure on rims still...

Take off GT500 wheels would work, but I don't want to "waste" them on snow tires...

There aren't going to be any "cheap" wheels, no steel wheels like are available for some cars, especially to clear the brembo brakes.

Probably the cheapest wheels that might clear would be the replica GT500 19's that American Muscle sells.

18" rims fit the E46 M3, which feature the same setup: 4" Brembo rotors & 4-piston calipers. I wouldn't be shocked if 18's fit the Stang's.

As for which snow tire- there's typically two of quality. And then the rest... But Michellin xice-xi2 are the ones I always recommend ( I own a set and they are awesome for the snow, and hold their own in the dry) and then Bridgestone Blizzaks.

Go to www.tirerack.com and check things out

You might just be able to use the same wheels, but just swap out the tires. I am in the same boat as you. I live in Ohio, so we have crappy weather..........all the time!

I just looked at tirerack, and they make Bridgestone Blizzaks that would fit the Brembo wheels. They are $252.00 per tire.

These 18" SVE wheels that are being discussed in another thread are showing to clear the brembos and are only $143 each, 18" snow's should be less than 19's.

Thanks for the advice gentlemen.

I thought about just mounting new tires, and I might still. I have to find out if they'll let me keep the tires if I mount a new set. Italy has some crazy laws!

I like those SVE wheels, I'd like to find someplace where I can get the tires and wheels together so I can just bolt them on.

As far as clearing the brembos, is it mostly the spoke pattern/size or the offset, or a combination of both that affects the clearance? I've owned a lot of cars, but I've never bought new wheels. Heh

I'm sure Late Model Restoration can supply whatever tires you want with the SVE wheels, just give them a call.

The clearance has to do with the shape of the back side of the spokes and the shape of the inside of the rim.
