At least 18 VINs NOT being shipped... EVER

Read this post by fjg109 over at AllFordMustangs.com:

My 2011 GT/CS will NOT be shipping

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I received word earlier this afternoon from my dealer that Ford will not be shipping my GT/CS, which was built on 5/4 and is still sitting in Ramp 51. They didn't explain why, only that it wasn't shipping and they were going to fast-track a replacement. The word is that mine is one of 18 VINs that will not ship (out of thousands, how lucky am I??) but I have no idea why. But all's not lost, I've had second thoughts about the CS package anyway, and now this is my chance to swap it for basically the same car but with the Brembo brake package, which was going to be my first mod on my future ex-CS...

Mine was built on 5/4 as well. . . and hasn't shipped. Hmmm....

That's quality control being taken to the max. Unless they were damaged in storage, in which case, different cause, same result.

Is it just me, or is this what Ramp 51 must look like...

What bugs me is that it took them nearly a month to make the decision.

I would support that theory as well. I must be those early built cars tossed against the fense.

That's disturbing in a way. I wonder what would have caused them to scrap 18 cars, but hey, that's money they're basically kissing goodbye, so at least they have their minds on quality rather than the quick buck. They must have somehow been damaged, or there was an engine fault or who knows. They'll probably strip whatever they can salvage. Surprising though, and I'd definitely look into it. If it's being scrapped, then I'd say check to see if the order is still going to be left in Ford's system and if it's going to be redone from the start or if you're going to have to get the dealer to put a new order down.

Um. Hello Ford? Hi. Yeah, um...I'd like to buy one of those 'imperfect' 5.0s that you are throwing away. I'll give you face value for the materials, metal/plastic/glass/rubber. Deal? How about $10k..

Sincerely,
Me

PS you can just give me a 3/36k bumper to bumper warranty. The rest I'll deal with. I don't need powertrain or roadside. Thanks!

This is a car that apparently was damaged while in ford's possession, and they sold it anyway. Take a look at the last line in the options list for this 2007 GT/CS.
