i disagree------to me the 5.0 felt "anemic" for a car thats rated at 412 HP!

And i drove the 6pd with gear option!

JMHO!

HAVE YOU DROVE ONE YET "LIL WAYNE"?

Congrats on your ride...great deal and glad you're happy with it.

but to me its the opposite. I would never trade my 05 in on a 10, unless I was going on interior alone. The extra bit of HP wouldn't be enough, regardless how much of a deal I got.

The 5L is nowhere near anemic, you were just expecting this blast of power.
The 5.0 stock for stock will blow a hole in the 3v. Into modding, no question... it'll leave the 3v for dead.

And yes, I've driven all 3...GTs

3v VS 4v ... not even that can be used here. the 5L is in a different league. Larger, newer tech, and WAY better breathing than the old mod motors.

yet the 3v does?
That's what I don't get.

Wow, a car that'll run mid- to high-12's straight from the showroom, 0-60 times in the low-to-mid-4-second range... anemic? What're you coming from, a Viper or something?

Hey, congrats on the 2010, man! Whipplecharge that bad boy and I guarantee you'll make some power. I'm not sure if it'll live up to your lofty expectations, though. Ha ha.

I'm wondering if 1st & 2nd with the 6spd & 3.73's revs up so fast (and the pause of shifting) that you miss the 'feel' of that sweeping power like when you hit the power band about 3500-3800 to redline in the 4.6 5spd (3.73's). Like granny gear in my F150 4spd. Stump puller for sure but you're wound up so quick you surely don't feel the sensation of speed. And then you better shift.

When I watch Evo's vids at the strip it seems that way. I mean no question it takes off fast and the time slip proves it, but 1st seems sort of useless (other than lifting the front end of the ground ).

CONGRATS ON THE 10 & GREAT PRICE!!

I'm glad Ford is upped the ante' with the 2010 and 2011 GT500's It should drive a dagger straight into the heart of 07-09 GT500 values and get the cars out of collectors and speculators hands and into the hands of enthusiasts where they really belong (my 2 cents at least).

--->edit<---

I see the 5.0 is meeting my expectations as far as the driving experience goes. In the right hands the 2011 GT, its going to be pretty **** fast, but I suspect most people are going to have trouble in the stop light to stop light sprint with the brand-x guys. Thats the advantage of having 76 extra cubes and 2 valves, the power is just more accessible when your dropping the clutch and stomping the gas (to put things simply).

If anything, I suspect we will see alot of stories going something like; "The Camaro got me off the line, but I caught up and passed him on the top end".

Man, I'd love to see the 5.0's heads on a tall deck motor in the six or seven liter range. Talk about beast!

I traded in my 2006 V6 Mustang with an Eaton M90 for my 2010 GT. The S/C V6 definitely had more low end TQ and put you back in the seat at 2500 RPM ... but the GT in 3RD gear WOT starting at around 4000 RPM turns into a rocket ... A S/C 4.6 must be sweet ....

Congrats, a new car is always fun to get. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Me, I'm still planning on running 300,000-500,000 miles on my 2008 Mustang. I'll be the last person out there with a car that still runs on gas!

I think the 'anemic' comment mighta came sort of for the same reasons I felt about the gt500 test drive I took a couple days ago...just expecting brutal power...I thought the gt500 felt pretty darn tame compared to what I was expecting, yet I KNOW it was the most wicked car Ive ever driven. up in the powerband its wicked, but off idle theres just not much there.

my first few cars were bigblocks, you never get over missing that feeling- fast or not, bottom end torque quietly pinning you to the seat every time you just touch the gas is pretty cool in everyday driving...a 7000 rpm 12 second screamer may run away and hide from an old school bigblock at the track, but a torque monster is a really fun car to drive legally without attracting attention...huge difference between 500 ft-lb at 2000 and 500 ft-lb at 5000...the latter will make insane horsepower, but you cant enjoy it without breaking the law in a very loud way...for racing, horsepower wins, but IMO for a fun car, torque is #1.

after driving that gt500, the KB blower want for my 06 mustang gt has waned...yes it would kick it up a notch to say the least, but I'm now thinking a mild 429 would be too cool...I dont see any reason the new controls couldnt be adapted to a bigger motor- might sound nuts, but could you imagine a old 429 with variable cam timing/knock sensors/port injection/etc...yeah the weight would suck, BUT everything else would be kinda cool
