Would be good to describe what else you have done to the mid pipe/cat back etc.

Any reason you went with the shorty pipes over the long tubes? I hear you get more performance out of the LTs

The sound with LTs is changed alot. It is alot raspier and sounds awful in my opinion. The difference between them I only like 5 hp

I believe the shorty headers can see similar peak power gains but long tunes tend to result in gains thru a wider RPM range... And I would think the LT's would change the sound a lot too, too bad they don't make the V6 sound good

Well also some states dont let you run LT's due to smog regulations. I run into this problem living here in Cali.

I would love to see some before and after dyno runs just to see what the real difference they provide. Will 5HP, 10HP justify the $400 price tag?

I give you props for tackling that by yourself. Not too many kids would attempt that with a newer car anyway. I think that your car sounds like the BEST V6 new Mustang that I have heard to date. Very Motorsport IMHO. You did a pretty sweet job with the video editing as well. Great job man.

These paired with the BBK Catted X-Pipe show an 18 HP gain total

Yes, I dont have a tune yet so it was minimal.

Nice video and I'm also impressed you tackled the job by yourself. I have recently ruled out shorty headers to go with my Magnaflow cat-back b/c I can't have it be to loud but this makes me wanna reconsider.

Just FYI...

One thing you state in your commentary on the video is that those headers are "tuned length", this isn't the case. Tuned length means that all tubes are the same length and optimized for scavenging, that one tube on those headers that wraps around the outside is obviously much longer than the other two.

What's the firing order of the V6? Factoring in the exhaust pulses based on firing order could be just as 'tuned' as equal length tubes, right? I'm seeing #1 (LF, facing engine) and #6 (RR) looking of the similar length, #2 & #4 similar, #3 & #5 similar.

Tuned Length Design. BBK Shorty "Tuned Length" Headers out perform both the stock factory manifolds and regular shorty headers. Tuned Length Headers have a unique extended tubular design that allows for unrestricted exhaust flow to increase horsepower and torque. Perfect for street and strip.
