Just got my intake and tune combo, have some questions.
I installed my intake and tune from steeda. While installing the tune I forgot to set the gear ratio so I had to reinstall the tune with the correct gear ratio. I also notice the tach needle bounces around a bit maybe a hundred or so rpm's while at idle. Is this normal for a tune, and is there anything else I need to set like the wheel speed setting etc? Could I have messed something up by installing the tune twice? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
See these are things I thought were all done by the tuning company that writes the custom tune. Are there any other settings that are more or less mandatory like the gear ratios and such. Thanks for your help by the way.
The "Tune" is done by them, but there are certain parameters you can set to adjust it to your particular set-up.....Octane program, Gears, Idle, max RPM's etc.. Very easy to step through the choices and make the selections. Only takes a few minutes
Ask to speak to Jeff, he's the one that lurks from time to time here on this site under the name Steedagus. Also, if you call him up before i do, ask them if they figured out the skip shift thing so we can get a sofware update to get rid of it.

I had my tune done at Steeda on Thursday. Gus told me that they have the skip shift resolved and you can now have it in the tune. I have an auto so it didn't apply to me.
Okay, called Steeda this morning. Asked for Jeff they said there's no one there by the name of Jeff. Steedagus' name is Gus. They said the unstable idle is not common, I explained the tach slightly rises a hundred or so rpm's and then maybe drops a hundred or so from where it should be. Acording to the person I spoke to they've never experienced this with cars they've driven. They recommended I go back to stock and then start over and go from there. By the way they said Gus is the one who does the tuning for these cars.
And yes we now can eliminate skip shift.
And also, I'm not the "tuner" here. I am the National Sales Manager. Although I've been trained at SCT, I am in sales and because of my SCT training and being in the "front lines" so to speak with customer interaction I pretty much end up doing most of the tech support, etc..... So I am well versed and know the tuning software inside and out, but not the guy that normally writes the tunes or does our in house dyno tuning.
I do participate hands on with tuning once in a while. I actually came in Saturday when I was off and helped out to finish a 2006 GT we just installed a Whipple and Steeda Whipple Belt Drive on. But you would typically not find me on the dyno and doing anything like that during the week. Not enough time for that

Update, I got an IM from Gus and he says they've been working on smoothing out the idle on the mustang and they've found something that works. They'll be emailing me the file. I was just getting used to it, and my buddy's car who has the brenspeed tune on his also has the same idle. I've gotta say all the good things said on these forums about Steeda's customer support and product quality are true!
