Just got my first Ford

Hey guys, I picked up my first ever ford about two weeks ago. After nearly a year of looking around, I ended up finding a gorgeous Black on Black 2014 Mustang GT with the Brembo package and 3.73 gears (and various others) for an awesome price! I have only owned BMW's in the past and while I had been trying to find an E36 M3 to replace one I used to have a few years ago... but had no luck. Then after watching a few videos of this car nearly destroying the new M3 I was in love!

It had been sitting on the lot for a while and had quite a few miles on her, ~1900, before I picked her up. However, they made me an offer I couldn't refuse so I looked past the mileage and haven't looked back!

she's stock for now, BUT... I'm ordering a JLT catch can, new ball shifter, and hood shocks first. Then I'll be putting in some new shocks/springs to drop her down. Here are some pics

thanks! I already have... nothing like hearing that V8! I think it's just the freshly detailed paint and the sky that's making it look blue, she is definitely black on black.

I always had black but since I am OCD with my cars, I went white this last time. I just broke 2k miles last week on my 13. Pop some GT500 on her. Easy and under $400, do it yourself.

Thanks! haha on all my previous cars I've always gone the more power/more noise route... this one will be the opposite. That being said, if I happen to stumble across some GT500 or Magnaflow axel backs for the right price... who knows what'll happen lol

The GT500 axlebacks are ALWAYS the right price...that being half of everything else. I don't have my car yet and there's a set sitting in the basement.

And you're going the opposite way with your V8 MUSCLE CAR? Calling a forum intervention here! Gotta set him straight before it's too late!

haha well this thing has plenty of power and sooooo much torque(for now)!!! BUT I can definitely feel a handling difference between this and the other european cars I'm used to. But I think that with a couple tweaks in the suspension I think it'll be just as good.

plus I may just have to save up for FI since that's what my last project car ended up being.

I was a Ford guy as a teenager. My first car was a '49 four door sedan in ugly soybean green with a flat head V8 and three-speed column shift. Man did we have fun kicking butt on the 6 cylinder Chevy guys. My 2014 is my first Mustang and my first domestic car in over 40 years and I love it. Feels like I came home to Ford.

Congrats on your Mustang. I'm sure you are gonna love it.

I hear all of what you're saying, I really do. Mine will be the most powerful car I've owned by a decent margin (previously had a front drive GM W-body built to about 300 whp) so I'm satisfied by the engine's output...but I WANT NOISE!

I'm just doing the GT500 mufflers and some dress-up, and moving on to stuff like brake lines (make a HUGE difference on Brembo's), crisping up the shifter (just a bushing, I like the throws) and then hitting some suspension. Over the years I've got over my horsepower addiction somewhat, and try to build balanced driver's cars. I don't think the 5.0 needs any help there, moving on to the rest.

Once again, congrats on the car, will be watching to see how your build turns out, given your background with Euro imports. You should start a build thread in the Black forum.

I'm with you - My new Stang is the first Ford I've ever bought. I've bought Chevy, Dodge, Toyota, Nissan, and Honda, and my first car was my Grandfather's lime green 72 Olds 88, so I'm kind of all over the map!

Congrats! Looks great! For the price, you can't go wrong with the GT. The best part is being able to smoke nearly every other European car on the road that is in the same class... And those same cars are 20-30k more than the GT. Definitely get some exhaust... You will thank yourself!

I can't say this is my first Ford but it's only my second one. My first one and first car period was a 1972 LTD 4 door that I bought in 1985 for $400. I kept it until 1987 and have owned GM ever since.

I bought this Mustang because I was looking for an American performance car and the choices were down to the Mustang, Camaro, and Challenger and the Mustang eventually won out.

So far I'm pretty happy with my choice. To the OP, very nice car and enjoy it.

Congrats! Get yourself an MGW and skip the 'bushing' or bracket only upgrade. If you like it loud, have a shop cut out the resonators out of the H pipe when you get the GT500 ABs.

Bought my first Ford in 1986, and haven't looked back. I will also say get some GT500 mufflers, you won't be disappointed. They sound great on acceleration, and are quiet while cruising. At 319 bucks with free shipping from American Muscle, they are well worth the price.

The cars a beauty. Enjoy.

Also, if you do decide to buy anything from American Muscle, contact "AMDanBailer" the AM rep here on the forum. He will send you a code for a 6% discount. Every little bit helps.
