It's been 2 and a half months....

It's been 2 and a half months since I got my 2013 GHIG GT and I'm loving every minute of it, this week I'll roll over 4k miles on it. I don't have the transmission issues that are spoken of so frequently, the car runs perfect and every day I get to drive it makes me enjoy it all the more.

I got the Gotta Have it Green edition, with the spoiler delete. First thing I did was put on some stripes which I think was the best thing to do with something that was so solidly green. I plan on getting the hood vents painted black soon as another mod, and I've seen a few 5.0 badges that have been mod'd to be more black. I have the 19" black rims so I feel the car has a pretty unique look.

I get compliments all the time, I've had people stop next to me say things, people walking in the cross walk in front of me say things, people at gas stations all seem to "gravitate" towards my car and talk about the color or how they like the look of the 13... It's amazing how much attention it gets.

Yesterday I was giving it the weekly wash, was just finishing up with the exterior when a neighbor lady from a few blocks down comes walking by. Now this woman is on oxygen and you can hear her a block a way as she slowly walks up the street with her tank, very nice lady. Well, Sunday as she's walking by EVEN SHE makes a comment about how much she loves the color...

Do any of you all also get comments regarding your mustang like this? I can't go a day without someone complimenting it.... I don't count MPG, I count SPG, and there are a lot of 'em!

Good read, thanks for sharing! And yes, I concur. I have had numerous people compliment my car. The green paint is just somethin' else...

I've noticed a change in comments between my '10GT Kona and the '13 Shelby, probably due to the numerous articles that have been written about it recently.

With the GT I'd get a lot of complimentary comments, like "nice car" or "that's beautiful". With the '13 Shelby people start with questions like "does it really have?", "can it really do?", "do you get scared?", "can you take my phone and snap a pic of me next to it?", "can you open the hood please?"

Tends to be a lot of disbelief, head shaking, and just saying "oh man", "I'm jealous", or "hope you can keep that between the ditches".

*all actual comments and requests I've received from strangers. I'm usually happy to oblige.

The first day I got mine, some guy in a Ranger gave me a sign to light them up. I just had to do it lol.

Just last week, someone drove along side of me and asked "where I got my tail lights?"
Told him they came with the car and they're new for this year.

I get TONS of looks, stares, thumbs up, quick comments, and even a few short conversations. My DIB GT also drew more attention than I expected at the one and only cruise in I've attended.

At the end of the day I bought the car for ME...because I love how it drives, looks, etc. BUT, it is kinda cool for other people to notice.

I've been wanting to see one in person before judging because just like Grabber Blue, I feel like pictures don't do it any justice.

It was a toss up between GHIG and Deep Impact. I like to go deep so I figured why not. So I guess we really are bad **** according the the local populace.

Day one of ownership. Car is sitting in the sun, top down in the employee parking lot, and people who I hardly know are coming up to me and complimenting me on the car. It doesn't help that a sales manager with a '11 GT is like telling people to go down to the parking lot to see it. Truthfully, it's only the second grabber vert I've ever seen in person, and definitely the only brembo vert I've seen.

I cant wait to hop in it after work. That is the truth.

That's exactly how I feel, probably why I read these forums from time to time in my office

In my case, I want to get home as fast as I can, buy a jack and jackstands and try to swap my mufflers w/out paying my dealership to do it. Also to change my sidemarkers. and to try to install my boss 302 diffuser. lol.

That would also be fun - my next upgrade is the 302 exhaust and the gt500 axle backs - gonna wait to mod until next year but I can't wait to try it myself :P

Im just about to cross 4,000 miles myself and absolutely LOVE my car. Trans has been solid so far (fingers crossed ) and the recaros feel like a dream. Only complaint is that I haven't had time/$ to rip it at any track days

I got more than a fair share of comments on my DIB at the dream cruise this weekend, people really like the color, especially when it pops in the sunlight )

Couldn't be happier with it, the thing is just an absolute blast to DD...couldn't imagine having as much fun in a lot of other cars (well I COULD...it starts with Shelby and ends with GT500 hahaha)

Yup this car gets people's eyes. I also have had no problems with my 6spd trans. In fact it seems to be shifting better at 12k then it did new. If I have any clutch problems, I'll go after market for sure. I also want to add the MGW shifter.

Get used to the compliments!! Not a day goes by that I don't receive a compliment or someone wants to talk about the car, or I come out of store and there is someone checking it out. Young, old, even what seemed to be a disheveled homeless guy stopped my and asked about the car. He was very knowledgeable about sport cars and pony cars too. I even let one young kid sit in the drivers seat with no keys of course, because he looked like he was struck with awe. I had a police car in Goshen, NY follow me for a while and I thought what the heck did I do now . He gives me a quick honk of the siren and I pull over and he pulls over next to me to just tell my how he has been admiring my stang and was I loving it. So we talked for about 5 minutes about the new 13's and what I thought he should definitely order if it gets one (which he said he was still negociating with his wife). It is embarrassing sometimes. I wear sunglasses when I drive and I see people all day while driving checking out my car, where they can't see me watching them. I guess the novelty will be over for strangers after a while, but I will always turn around and admire my GT when I park it and come back to start her up again.
Oh, I forgot to mention that my car is a Stock (no mods) 2013 GT/Premium black/black with the optional 19 inch painted nickle luster wheels. It's amazing! I thought my BMW 330Ci got compliments. Never like this.
Take care and congrats and good luck man. I envy you with the Shelby. Unreal!! Maybe my retirement car in 2015 I will get the Shelby GT500 or whatever it will be called by then. I better start saving (AGAIN)!!
