I bought a set of great used GT500 mufflers from a member here on this site (FromZto5). Took them to my local muffler shop I've used for years. He cut off the tubes from the V6 mufflers that connect to the main exhaust tubes. He then flared the end (see second pic) and welded these V6 tubes onto the GT500 mufflers. This made them "cat backs" that fit my V6's tube size.
Gotta say, these are perfect for me. The wide tips fill out the back area great, and the sound is sweet. Nice idle, perfect cruising sound, and when you tromp on it, the sound is there; not obnoxious, not quiet, just right.
It cost me $80.00 to have my local muffler shop weld the tubes from my V6 mufflers onto the GT500's. Well worth it, and total cost put me well under the cost of 90% of the axleback setups out there. Something for the V6 folks to consider if you're looking for something that lets you enjoy the radio, but you'll hear it when you want to (right foot).

Or I'll have to drive to Orlando to hear them!! My niece asked me about an exhaust for her 2011 3.7L Stang. This might be her option considering her finances

BUCKO! Congrats buddy!
Hey..... those GT500 axlebacks look familiar!
hehe. I can't believe they're already on your car. Just last week I had those on mine.
That looks like a great idea to have those on the V6 setup. I am REALLY curious as to the sound. I can't believe no one with the 3.7 has done this before? hmmm
Anyways, congrats again sir. Remember, those axlebacks have never been rained on
worst they saw was dust hehe. Always shined and polished, just for you.

Sorry FromZto5, these mufflers are going to be rained on, dirt'd on, and everything else the roads will toss my way. For you, I'll be sure to hose them off when the car gets its Saturday wash and shine!
No freakin' way! This car is driven daily; two to three days a week from Sanford to Tampa (just under 200 miles round trip). I bought it 8 months ago with 2000 miles on it, and it now has 32K. No garage queen here. Now you know one of my main reasons for a V6...gas mileage.

As your seller, you KNOW you owe me a video clip right? You're not getting out of it...
hehe... I kid...I kid.
I agree. Me likey. How do the Borlas sound on the V6 tho? I think they make em for it.
As to the Borlas, I listened to the clips; I liked the touring ones the best for my tastes, but the price...

Most of the axle backs I liked were well into the $450.00 to $600.00 range, and heck, everyone has them on the V6's. For now, I'm a minority. Don't know how long that will last.
FromZto5, I should have had you sign them. it would have been interesting to the next owner to find the signiture and wonder what that was all about.....my dad had a brand new 55 Chevy he bought; took it to the dealer because of a rattle in the drivers door. The service department found a coke bottle in the door, with a note in it that said, "George helped assemble this car". They gave the note and bottle to my dad. He kept it for a few years as he enjoyed the joke.
