I hope to have my car for life, anything I should do?

I said this with my 95 I bought, but diff with this car. Is there anything I should have done to it to make last longer? I hope to drive this til the rims fall off. When that happens, time for new rims!! Thanks a lot!!
Only thing I have done is added Flows. Let me know if need more info. It's an auto, if that matters?

I've driven it in rain twice. Didn't like it either time! Both times were for nothing. I don't get it out in snow/ice. Heard Hwy Dept is going to start using 100% salt, so for sure won't! I've had to have oil changed once.
I was thinking if I needed to switch fluids to Royal Purple? Didn't know if SFC's, etc. Need to upgrade break pads? Just that type stuff.

I screw that saying up. I'm 33, but I granny it pretty much always. Sure every once in a while I let her rip! I try not to, though. If I get caught speeding, they can easily take away my license for life. That's why I granny it.
that will cover almost all issues..
want to guess how many do either?

If you're going to do this, just rent one on the weekend.
Agree with the others who have said -- keep the regular maintenance, keep the paint protection up, keep the leather protection up and you're good as gold.

Keep up with the maintenance, don't abuse it.
but definitely enjoy your car and drive it, get your moneys worth.
cars are meant to be driven especially mustangs!
I hate when people lock their car up in a bubble and stare at it.

drive it.........a lot.
do your maintenance, scheduled and otherwise.
when something breaks, fix it.
keep it clean; if you can park it inside, great. If not, clean it! If you have to drive it in bad weather, wash it off........
Crimony, DON'T park it in the garage and not drive it. Why buy it if you can't make big noise, big smoke, and light up the faces of 7 year olds stuck in their mom's Honda Pilot in the next lane. You CAN keep your car forever, if you just fix what's broke, replace what needs to be replaced, and stay on top of the little stuff. Unless yer saving it as a Barrett-Jackson investment for your grandkids, put that horsey on the road.......

BTW, these cars all had miles on them. They were all in pretty good shape, but not many were perfect. The white race car is an actual GT350R, one of 36 made, one of 25 known to still be around, and spent time on the track. The maroon car I see on the street a lot, and the rest of those actual GT350's all had miles on them. I'd still own any one of them, perfect or not.......
Agreed. I bought my car for MY enjoyment. She sees a bath at minimum once a week. I don't beat on her all the time but I'm not a grandpa either.
I will have a place with a garage soon too but just stay with the maintenance

The car that I sold before I bought my Vista Blue '06 was 30 years old when I got rid of it. I owned it for about half of it's life.
It ran like new when I sold it.
That car was always garaged. The original owner had driven in rain and snow.
He had done a body restoration before I bought it. I drove it in the rain twice.
I replaced many things as they got old. He had replaced very few.
.
My Vista '06 has never seen rain (even from Flat Rock to here it never rained). I have always planned to keep it forever (barring catastrophes).
I decided avoiding rain was the sure way to avoid the body work done on the last car (remember we are talking 20-30 years here).
I drive it every sunny day I can. It has seen 25% of the miles of my daily driver. That's a lot for a strictly fun and sun car.
My plan is to keep it until I cannot drive anymore and then some.
ADVICE TO KEEP IT FOREVER:
Garage it. Do not drive in the rain or snow. Do the maintenance. Watch out as it gets over 10 years old for rubber and other age wear. Keep a sharp eye out for any problems and fix them. If all your things are perfect, go ahead and floor it and take hard corners. That's why you bought it.
.
That being said, I have other cars and trucks to make my preservation projects reality.
You need to do the best you can with what you have available to you.

I take great care of my cars! If/when stuff needs fixed; I have it fixed! Do that cause what's right, & so I will remember to do it.
I am scared of rain! Really water in general.

I don't drive mine on any dirt roads. Actually my cousin lives on a prob 1/2 mile stretch. I only go down when it's just me. I then go about 10 MPH, @ the fastest. My gravel road is prob 1/4 mile? I prob go slower on it. Don't drive on freshly paved/asphalted roads.
Again, I don't work. I can stick to driving less than 1K/mth. I don't want to drive it a lot cuz I hope to have for life.
