Jut realized u r in DC area. How come I never saw ur car. Hmmm

Just my .02 cents and its probably not worth that much. First, maybe you can rent a stick and learn. With that said, I taught the wife how to drive stick in a 03 focus svt. Showed her how to take off then sent her out by herself and she did fine and did not burn the clutch. I would imagine the clutch pedal feel would be a lot heavier in the stang. I have no real experience with a shelby. Test drove one once. It was an 07. The clutch was heavy and I'm sure its better in a 11. You can learn with ruining the car. The car did not seem fast unless you drive it that way. Forget about it in the winter. I've seen them being driven in Cleveland OH. in the winter but could not understand why. I would guess that the stang is a good deal but if you own it for some time as a daily driver it will depreciate like everything else. I would guess that the person selling it to you would expect you to keep it and not flip it. I would wait to see where you go to school and go with the stang if the weather is nice and choose something else if that's not the case.

learn how to drive on the shelby, you arent going to hurt it. And a V8 is alot easier to learn to drive a manual on b/c they make good torque down low and can pull the car of easier. Even if you stall it a few times, its not going to hurt the clutch or the drivetrain of the shelby. just dont rev it and dump the clutch and your be fine. Get some practice in a parking lot a few times before venturing onto the street. Heck, see if your dads friend will help teach you before you buy the car.

I found someone that has a manual BRZ. We shall see how it goes tomorrow...

Just from a standpoint of $ / value. Buy the Shelby.

You could always flip the Shelby if it doesn't work out.

And by flip I mean sell it for what it's really worth

That's what I was thinking. For $30K, I'd buy it and re-sell it for the extra cash. But I'm a greedy capitalist pig. Use the profit for booze and hookers when you get to college.

That would be kinda douchey on my part.... He is selling it to me since Mark knows I've been wanting a stang for a while now... I get where you're coming from, but if I take it, I probably will have to keep it for another 2 years and get the 2015.

I was running some numbers... I drive around 200 miles a week @ 16 MPG = around $50 of gas a week so $2600. $3000 to be safe. My insurance goes up about $400 per 6 months or $800 a year. So I'll be spending around $2000 more than my current car. I figure I can make up the difference when I sell the Shelby...

I agree it would be douchey. So I'd keep it for the appropriate amount of time to not be douchey. And then sell it.

Then see if he wants to sell his 2013

$30k for a 2-year old 6k mile Shelby is a freakin' steal. If you don't buy it, you're an idiot.

do you know anything about cars?
1) V4 engine.....
2) a 135i can do 0-60 in under 5 seconds....which is very near the performance of the stock CS you were looking at
3) If it is owned by a family friend, learn how to drive a manual (not on the shelby) first then take it for a spin! Your choice will be easy after that.

Don't even think about taking it to college. There are many, many douchebags that will key your car for no reason.

Also, learning how to drive stick in the passenger side teaches you how to drive stick in a RHD country.
1st I rode around before she left with her then I followed her part of the way to make sure she was ok..

No question about it to get a insane car like that for over 10k less than its worth. Only thing I say is buy a beater for winter and college driving! You will need to have a spare car.
