I am starting to hate the piano black trunk on my '13

It looks very nice and all, but it is a dust trap... I mean, it gets dirty two minutes after I finish cleaning. Same thing with the LED rear lights. I think its the static that build in those plastic parts, but it seems there is no way to have them clean and shiny for more than five minutes... Any other '13 owners sharing this feeling? Any tips to get rid of static or keeping them clean more than 5 minutes? I am not sure I want to try wax on those plastic parts.

I've noticed the same problem, but I just keep a soft micro-fiber towel with me in the car and wipe it down when I notice it...

A coating of wax will help a bit. All Mustangs get dirty in the rear quickly. The matte black stripe on my 2011 does the same thing. But with a coat of wax, the dust is minimized, as it can't adhere as well

I agree with this ^. My 2011 and my 12 both are immediately dusty in the rear as soon as I drive it. I think it's just the road dust coming off the rear tires.

Its just something you will have to live with. Rears of these cars just get dusty real fast. Its the only thing that really sucks about the rear.

I found that the taillights get swirl marks in them easily if your not careful and tend to look duller. What i have found to work great on them is meguires PlastX, but still havnt figured out what to do about dust.

The dirt and dust on the back end just show the others you drive it. That's what Saturdays are for....washing the car!

I waxed mine and keep a wool duster in m trunk. Nothing you can really do to prevent it. It's physics. The car just attracts negatively charged dust particles.

Claims to be anti-static but I didn't notice, my car is silver anyway lol. I love it as a quick detail spray though.

It does have good anti-static properties. In addition to it being my favorite quick detailer for my cars, I use it on my TV and computer screens and it keeps them dust free for months.

Of course they aren't subjected to rain or near the amount of dirt/dust that the rear end of a car is so ymmv.

Lemon Pledge works pretty well on my black Harley. If my car ever ships then maybe I'll try that?

Yup, no solution, very frustrating.

Is it the same CRAP they use on the door pillar on the Taurus (and maybe the Fusion also)? If you touch that stuff with microfiber it'll scratch.

You can only get away with the Lemon Pledge if your Mustang is school bus yellow!
