You may not be able to push PSI, but I'm sure it'll be possible.
Especially with the higher displacement and it being a WAY better breathing engine,

I agree, plus this engine will undoubtedly feature technological upgrades over its predecessor that will enable it to safely run boost.

No technology makes up for the lack of rods and pistons built for high cylinder pressures.

Current stall is at 4,800 rpm's, which is just a few hundred rpm's below peak torque for my car. The centrifugal blower moved my powerband way up, so the converter really helps get into the powerband instantly (as do the 4.10 gears).

I, too, love the 5 speed 5R55S automatic. Very stout and great gear spacing. This is the only automatic Mustang I've ever owned (I had five stick shift Mustangs previously as the old 3 & 4 speed automatics were awful).

Technically yes...you can't push something past what its meant to do, its boundaries and tolerances, for long.
BUT
with more and more tech. a lot more is possible than ever before.

Anyone know the actual displacement of the engine? Is it a real 5.0L, unlike the 4.9 in the fox bodies? =D

I was referring more to the rumored (Boomer, any insight? ) 11:1 compression. There will be "newer" technologies, I'm sure, that'll allow this engine to run boost, especially if that compression figure is true.

The four valve heads allow more airflow which will drop the boost pressure. In other words the same volume of air at lower psi. I am sure the intake and port volume will have been changed as well. You won't need 9 psi to make as much power. This increases heat and makes it less efficient and push compression. You will be able to boost the mustang. Its just like gm does with the vette/maro now. Only need 6 pounds to make insane power. Btw sell your car now before the rest of the world is told what the 11's have. Once that happens the 2010's will be rebated and you will have a smaller pool of people willing to buy an "inferior" engine/trans. This will drive the value down considerably and may make it impossible or a lot harder to trade up. Good luck!!!

I agree, if the 270rwhp stock 4.6 can make an extra 130-150rwhp from just 6 psi, then I can see 500rwhp on 6 psi with the new 5.0's, if not more.

No it cannot make that on 6PSI. 6 adds around 90rwhp on a stock 4.6L engine.

Edelbrock has tried to convince us that their E-Force blower makes 466 flywheel hp (roughly 395 rwhp) with just 5 psi boost on an otherwise stock 300 hp 4.6L 3V. That would be about 120 rwhp improvement from just 5 psi - yeah right! I've seen a couple of them in person at our local dyno make the advertised hp #'s on stock 4.6L 3V's, but the boost guage sure wasn't reading 5 psi. Try more like 7.5-8 psi, which makes more sense.

I picked up 124 rwhp over stock with my Vortech V2 blower which is rated at 8.5-9.5 psi on an otherwise stock 4.6L 3V at 6,000 rpm's. I'm actually at 11 psi at my 6,400 rpm shift points, so I'm seeing 124 rwhp gain at 11 psi boost.

Let's do the math: The new 5.0L is 412 flywheel hp, which should yield about 350 rwhp with a manual transmission. Bolt on a 6 psi blower and you're adding 40% more airflow (6/14.7 psi). Factor in inefficiencies of roughly 20% (that's being generous) and you'd end up with about 32% more airflow instead of 40%. That puts you at roughly 460 rwhp. For a more specific example, I know that a Vortech V3 Si-trim blower is 78% efficient, so with 6 psi boost that would net you a best case scenario of 31% improvement, bringing the new 5.0L to about 455 rwhp.
