how many of us 2013 owners will get "tinted tails" tickets?

I was thinking the same thing with mine. I am pretty sure I will get pulled over by at least 1 ignorant cop.
They are extremely bright (almost excessively) like going for broke said, so that might deter the police.

The lights themselves are not tinted. They'll be easily visible in any light. Any cop that pulls you over for these is either having a really bad day and is going to take it out on you, or is looking for something else they can write you up on.

I have heard of all sorts of Pontiac G8 owners getting pulled over because the cops think their taillights are aftermarket. The police don't care, they just want to write tickets for money.

Around where i live I know I will get pulled over for the taillights.
Here's an awesome example of some of the police around here, my buddies truck has tinted taillights but some of the brightest led taillights you can buy he got pulled over last week and the reason was because she said " you cant have black colored taillights" -.- when my buddy tried to tell her very respectfully(was in passenger seat) that yes you can have black taillights you only have to be able to see the lights from a certain distance she cut him off and thought he was full of it..
so it will be a taillight or speeding ticket for me

Some fail to think about the reflector requirements of factory lights. Tint your own and you may have covered the reflector.......
And the guy with the G8 issue....sounds like he had the wrong lawyer. There is always a higher legal branch to go to.

If you are stopped, respectfully explain to the officer (after they are done talking) that the car's lights are 100% factory and are LED driven hence the dark trim. You may still get a summons for Whatever else is Wrong with your car or you'd be surprised how far courtesy will go with sir and ma'am.
Of you get a summons, thats what court is for. Retain a copy of a ford brochure showing the same lights. No need to worry about something that hasn't happened.

If I were a cop, I'd spend ALL my time busting wannabe thugs driving around in $200 cars with $4,000 rims and no insurance. Instead of grieving a guy with a $35,000 mustang over the color of his tail lights. I'm a **** like that!

no problem if a cop uses your lights for an excuse to pull you over anything else won't count. it's probable cause. if you're pulled over for your taillights, that in this case happen to be stock & legal, even if you just robbed a bank, on crack, w/ a fully automatic assault riffle, you're good.. anything after the illegal stop won't be admissible

Thats most of the problem with people tinting there tail lights, unless they go so dark they dont meet the distance requirements. The 13's have small red reflectors near the bottom of the bumper to meet that requirement.
