How Low Shall I Go? (Lowering Springs that is!)

One of my first mods on my new Mustang will be a quality lowering kit to improve the looks and stance, to get rid of the 4x4 look... (just got rid of my big Excursion).

Just wondering if y'all can share some pics of lowering kits installed (1"-1,5" drop) to get a better picture. It's always hard to imagine.

I was looking into the Steeda or FRRP springs, which would go great with the factory shocks and struts...

Any pics and help would be greatly appreciated...

Eibach Pro kit I believe. The owner's thread is here https://themustangsource.com/f802/ei...delete-486254/

EDIT: I think that kit might be more than a 1"er

It's 1.5" drop. I saw his response in another thread.

Haven't seen one yet but I'm sure if you went with the Steeda 1" and 1 1/4" springs, the car would look much more like the 1.5" drop without all the clearance issues. Just look for Stinger's post on his 1.5" FRPP springs. He didn't recommend for street/daily use. Personally I wouldn't do more than the standard Steeda set just to keep some street-able rebound. But who am I to say.

Depends on the roads in your area too. Do you have steep driveways, potholes and speedbumps to deal with? If not, go as low as possible!!

lower 1.5 inches at max if your going to be using this as a DD. To many S***ty roads and steep driveways for anything lower.

If this is going to be your show car and your going to pull it on a trailer, then possibly go lower.

All of these are good options. Keep in mind however, if you go more than 1 inch you're gonna need to swap out the shocks and struts. The stock items aren't designed to work with such a high spring rate such as that found in say 1.5 springs.

I'd swap them out anyway. But you're right, at that height, not completely necessary as a first step.

What's the main benefit of lowering besides looking cool?

I have 1.5" UPR springs (made by Eibach) and I love it. I have no issues with driveways, speedbumps, or Louisiana's infamously garbage roads. The UPRs ride close to stock and handle like the car is on rails.

I have pictures in the photos by color section. Kona blue, in case you can't figure that out.

Handling, road manners, lower center of gravity, cut aerodynamics a tad.

I'm new to this, but, better handling -- lowering the car lowers it's center of gravity, makes it corner flatter; plus the lowering springs are generally stiffer than the stock springs so that contributes to the handling improvement.

Anyone know if a lowered car will pull more skidpad G's; if so how much?

Can I get my dealer to install FRPP lowering springs and not void the warranty?

FRPP put their 1 inch handling pack on a 2010 with 18" GT500 wheels and got .97g

Car also had the FRPP Whipple and short throw shifter. Not sure about the strut tower brace but they might have retro fitted one in.

I thought the only real requirement needed for a 1.5" drop is an adjustable panhard bar?

You'll definitely need that too, as the axle will shift to the left. Could you run the stock dampers with a 1.5" drop? Probably, but the ride and handling characteristics will suffer, basically since they are being overworked to try and match the performance of the springs.
