How good is the ford warranty?

So lets say I took delivery of my car on Monday and today I decided to adjust my rear view mirror and it falls off. Would Ford replace it?

I could easily go through insurance to get it fixed but would rather not get them involved.

Um yes. That's what "bumper to bumper means".

Ford's warranty is VERY good. I've used it. Multiple times. And as long as it's not an "abuse" issue, they'll take care of you.

If you go in with a highly modified car, and something related to those mods is wrong/broken/part of your claim, expect to get some grief.

Somehow yesterday I forgot that I had a friend that was a service writer at a local dealership. So I called him today and he took some pics and did up paperwork to send to ford. Now Im just waiting to hear back from them.

Wait a sec... this JUST happened on your '11 Mustang?!?!?

Putting the mirror back on the windshield is EASY. Glass companies do it all the time. Takes just a couple of minutes.

Just take your 'New Mustang' to your dealer. Tell them the mirror just fell off when you were going to adjust it. Thats all you have to do. Things like this happen all the time. Thats what the bumper to bumper warranty is for.

No need for all that stuff. Just run it in to your Ford dealer and that is an easy repair. No worries!

Yeah it happened to my 11 GT that I picked up on Monday. lol

I didn't bother asking about having it fixed because it ripped the pad and a chunk of class of the windshield. The windshield will need to be replaced.

I have never heard of this problem on any car before. How hard did you pull on it to make that happen?

Well ford denied me and rightfully so. lol

Heres the rest of the story (The truth)...

I got my car tinted yesterday. 15% in the sides and rear. The the guy talked me into doing 35% on the windshield so I told him to go ahead and do it. Well we couldnt figure out how to get the rear view mirror off and it got yanked off accidentally in the process of figuring it out. So the next step is to file a claim with my insurance company. So I have a brand new car that I got on monday an managed to rip the rear view mirror off by thursday. Good news is after yanking it off I figured out how it actually comes off without causing any damage. On a side note the car looks awesome with the tint and Ill snap a few pics and post them in a bit.

There are two tabs that need to be pulled downwards towards the shifter then slide the mirror base perpendicular to the windshield upward. There has to be a tool to do it because without that tool youll run the risk of pulling the same stunt that I did.

If it were me, I would just buy the new windshield out of pocket. The little they pay after the deductable will be more than offset by an enormous increase in your premiums.

In SC its no cost to the insured because its a safety issue.
