Hood Lift Supports

Ok... who makes the best ones? I am looking at either black or Yellow Blaze color options. I see there are many options out there but I want to avoid buying an inferior product...

Which ones did you choose and why?

Saw these the other day and thought they looked pretty good and have good reviews and can be ordered color matched. The brackets are also not cobbled together stuff adapted from some other parts. And the price is right.

I bought these when I ordered my Shaker;
http://www.americanmuscle.com/black-hoodstrut-0511.html

I love them!! They were bolt-on so no drilling. That didn't mean much to be, just what I saw so I bought. I love them a lot!! Didn't install, so I have no idea about that. Look these up! They are black.

I had Redline 1's on my 95, bought from AM. I just thought they would carry them for my 11? They do, but the higher priced 1's. Elite? I can't afford even $5 more. These work fine!!

I bought these by CalPony, with pre-painted brackets, purchased from CJPony parts. I think they are awesome. As for how great they look, judge for yourself:

Those are the ones I posted. I think they look the most OEM of any that I have seen.

The MRT brand has worked good for me on two cars. No drilling install, reasonable price.

I've been thinking about getting those lately plus they're on sale to next weekend. $103 color matched sounds good to me.

Ive had the opportunity to see both the redline and mrt, CDC style side by side. I too was totally against drilling in a new car or any car for that matter. After seeing how clean the redline tuning kit is and how well it functions compared to the others. The pivot point is different, further back on the bolt ons making it harder for them to lift and hold. The redline struts take over much sooner, I originally thought it was a marketing camera trick of theirs but it's not. I now have the redline tuning kit and the install went quite well. As long as you have the right tools ahead of time like a hole punch and a rivet gun. It's pretty simple.

Best of all, the CalPony kit requires NO DRILLING, and can be installed in less than an hour, especially if you have your wife or g/f assist by holding the hood in place over the hinges while you remove the bolts, install the bracket, and then re-install the bolts. $103 for color matched is an EXCELLENT price - I was happy to get mine on sale for $109!

Redlines are the only ones worth it IMO. If you get a chance, play with someones hood who has the CDC/MRT ones, then find someone with the Redline. Much steadier lift, slow finish near the end of travel, and keep the hood from bouncing. Everyone whines about the drilling, but if you're that scared, you probably shouldn't mod your car to begin with.
