Which hood lift kit to get?
Which hood lift kit to get?
I'd like to purchase one of these kits, and so far there is the MRT, California Pony, Silverhorse Racing, and the last one I've seen is the Scott Drake. I'm looking for one that doesn't require drilling, I've seen one where the sound tube has to be moved a bit to accomodate the damper and bracket. There's also one I read folks complaining about the play in the bracket that sits in the fender.
Which one of these is the best?
The Scott Drake looks like the bottom piece might not have as much play, but does it require drilling? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I ordered California Pony's from CJ pony parts last week when they were on sale for $60. Guess they sold a lot because they are on back order.
.
My sound tube is coming off so don't care about that.

Drilling and rivetting is simple work and it looks factory when done! Redline Tuning makes awesome stainless steel hood lifts. I still can't warm up to the bulky brackets that the other "no-drill" kits use.
The Cal Pony hood struts DO NOT FIT THE 5.0 HOOD.
I can attest to his personally.
The don't line up with the underside of our hood.
There is a 90* corner that will dig into the underside of your hood with these.
I've already spoke with Cal Pony and sent them pics to confirm this.
As to if they continue to sell them marketed as a perfect fit for the '11, that's up to them.
I have the MRT Struts on my '05 and love them!

I have had just great luck through them.

It seems that most or all of these kits require moving the sound tube to the bottom of the fender. I forgot about CDC, can you guys post some pics of your hood struts. This thread could be useful for the folks who want one of these kits.

the upper portion (part that bolts to the hood itself is slightly lower profile) I like both kits in black so it looks OEM and people dont know that you put a kit on the car so thats why I like the slighly smaller braket then the MRT.
I know I am splitting hairs here......
