Seems like history is repeating itself, kinda.

1999/2005: New body styling
2000/2006. No change
2001/2007. Intro of Bullitt / GT/CS. Non functional hood scoops introduced on both.
2003-2004/2008: Mach 1 comes out to maintain interest in current Mustang, prior to new body style. 2008 is also looking good for a Mach and/or Boss right before a new body style in 2009.

I know this is not earth shattering news. Just an observation, that others have also made.

Yes indeed- my brother and I talk about this all the time. It's the 5 year cycle- and Ford seems to not want to break it. Fine by me,though... just keep releasin' those special editions!!!

Well remember back in the day, body styles were changed every 2 years... and there were even visable differences between those 2 years of the same car...

94-98 SN95
99-04 SN95 New Edge

It'll be about the same.... only...
NOW we have a kickin platform for the car, not a recycled 79 fairmont chassis.

It looks like the same cycle is going.

I personally think, considering there will be competition in '09, that they have to steal all the headlines and offer a mach1/boss right away.

IMHO I don't think we will see a Boss until '09 model year. My rationale is as follows: It will be the 40th anniversary of the original Boss 302, the '09 exterior will incorporate some of the styling cues from the '69 - '70 'Stangs and finally and maybe most importantly it will likely be the timeframe for the Camaro/Challenger launch.

I'd expect to see a Mach I in 2008 as well. Looks like '09 is my model year!!

Yep - another person waiting for the 09 MY. My 05 will be severly broken in at this rate (22k miles now).

An 09 BOSS would be perfect.

Sounds like we have a growing club of future '09 Boss owners!!

I suppose I'll just stick with my '93 Cobra until the '09's are available even though I'd love to have an '06 to hold me until then!!

I'll Join the '09 BOSS Owners Club. It would be nice to have one in Calypso Coral to match my '69 302 car.

If Mach is 08 and Boss in 09, then I would go with the Mach. Don't get me wrong; I love hips. My wife can confirm this. , but the Mach has always been my favorite.

Your point is extremely valid and the rationale supporting why Ford needs to produce both a Mach I and a Boss. It can't be one and not the other, each has it's own specific group of supporters. Both S/E models would sell very well and cater to a select group of Mustang enthusiasts. The bottom line for Ford, produce both!!

So we should ammend this to include a S/E Mustang club for Mach I and Boss owners (and future owners!!)

An 08 Mach will help move 'Stangs that would otherwise sit on lots thanks to would-be buyers waiting for the 09 remodel.

Agreed, I believe we will see the Mach I first in '08 and the Boss in '09.

Which platform is D2C? The 500? Thats a fantastic platform, far ahead of anything toyota or honda have.

My thoughts.....a bit optimistic but here goes:

2007.5 a new Mach (cause the GT/CS is gonna be a bit of a dog)
2008 or maybe 2008.5 a new Bullitt (the 40th Anniv. of McQueens')
2009 a new body, a new Boss (as per MustangFanatic's rationale)
