To HID or not?

Just wanted to see how many people out there love or hate the HID head lights.

Personally I think they only look good from the side but once you get in front of the car it just looks odd. The stock headlights just seem to fit the look of the car better. Am I alone on this one?

Also what do you guys think about the upgraded 18" chrome wheels? They look pretty sharp! I like the idea of the brembo pkg but the wheels are not my fav.

I didn't like the HID's when I got my car, especially on the GT, the V6 and the GT/CS they look better on because of the lack of the lights in the grill.
As for the wheels, I like the Polished Aluminum better, and they would come on it from the factory were the chrome is added after you get the car.

love mine, they look agressive and make the car look more modern

without them the car looks older

the light output is 10x better than not having them as well, so that was the biggest thing, once you go HID projectors, you`ll never not want them on your cars...trust me

I personally don't like the look of the HID, especially on a GT as they clash with the fog lamps. If I got HID lamps, I'd either change the grill and get rid of them, or relocate them with a Roush front fascia.

If you like them, go for it. It's your car, you should be happy with it.

I saw a 2010-up Mustang with the factory HIDs. They seem rather neutered compared to the Japanese and German HIDs. They didn't seem bright at all.

I can't imagine ever owning another car without HID's, but the GT looks stupid with 2 types of lights. Is there an HID conversion for the driving lights yet?

I too thought the stock head lamps looked more inline with the car and the fogs. But i wanted a car with the HID look and not a funky purplish light bulb (been there done that) So i got the car with the HID's and all i can say is the look grows on you and at light they light up your world with that 21st century look!! But to each his or her own thats why they make options and in the end they all look good from behind the steering wheel

The light output is the best I have experienced in any mustang I have owned and I am on 6 & 7 currently. The HIDs also look pretty good on the V6 model.

Just my opinion.

Very happy with mine. I don't care for the look of the halogen headlights at all, these look much cleaner, especially at night. I'd say go for it.

I was on the fence when I ordered my car. I went without the HIDs in the end. I do not like the look of them, but imagine they work significantly better. If they didn't require the Security Pkg, I probably would have pulled the trigger. However, I decided to put that $1000 toward other options that I wanted more. Of course, YMMV.

The light output on them is amazing. If anything, the security you get from being able to see better at night is worth it. There are also the daytime running light, you can use to help drop your insurance.

A lot of people dont like the look because of the stock grille 4x4 fog lights. I put in the Saleen grill and think it actually enhances the appearance, instead having huge 4x4 lights that dont even fit properly in the grill.

I was undecided at order time. I actually ordered it without the HIDS, then went back the next day and added them.

I love the look, and they help me to see better at night.

LED > HID > Halogen > Incandescent

If given the choice of HID or halogen, pick HID. The best HID designs seem to come from the Japanese or Germans with the better projector designs. LEDs are even better due to longer lifespans and reduced power consumption. Only a handful of cars have them, and the Toyota Prius is the only one that is affordable by commoners. I believe the current Taurus has LED fog lights, but they're not designed to be as bright as headlights. The side effect of LED is that they're not warm enough to melt off ice/snow from the lens, so you must have wipers or a sprayer as per UNECE regulations.

For me:
Better light source / white light / cleaner looks.
Gets away from the 'eye ball' movement from the 05-09's.
No ORANGE!! (I have a chrome bulb in place)

Shameless picture plugs:

I love the looks of the HID's and they are great for seeing at night. They seem to shine twice as far as the regular headlights.
