So Corsa tips are on the GT-500 mufflers that you can get from FRPP?

I thought you guys were talking about 2 different things?

no we were saying if we could make "the perfect exhaust" it would be GT-500 Mufflers with Corsa tips

What I would love to find is something that would come close to the throaty exhaust that could be found on the old SN95's due to their long stainless steel exhaust tubes (I have a '98 Cobra that I love the sound of). There is an unmistakably 'Mustang' sound to them, and I don't know if any aftermaket offerings come close to that signature sound.

Anybody know what I'm talking about?

sure do, after the changed the location of the mufflers fron in front of the axle with LONG tailpipes to have the muffer at the back bumper with a tip they just dont sound the same. That old sound is awesome!

Not only that but the 2005+ 3v 4.6s just didn't sound quite the same. The 2v and 4v 4.6s from 96-04 had a really nice howl to them. The 3vs still had it but not as much.

Now with the 5.0 we have a completely different sound... a little less hollow with more body. Still sounds great with the right exhaust, though!

This is so flippin hard to decide.....Back in the late 80's early 90's it was sooooooo easy to pick an exhaust. 2 Chamber Flows were the only way to go. Heck, those mufflers MADE the sound of the 5.0 Mustang. I sure wish there were a way to replicate that sound with this motor......

Decisions......

I know exactly what you mean. I've struggled to find the right sound for my 2010 GT, but I'm now running Pypes M80 mid mufflers welded into the exhaust before the rear axle and Pypes Pype Bomb muffler deletes out back. It doesn't sound quite the same as the SN95's but it's a huge improvement and it definitely sounds WAY better than running mufflers on the rear of the car. Pypes has a new 3" Super System using the same setup which is now available for the 2011 5.0 as well. Unfortunately the 5.0 will never sound like the SN95's.

Sorry, we mean the 4.6 in the GT, Mach 1, and Cobra.

Here is why:

First they are an OEM product, quality and fit are PERFECT. These Mufflers bolt in easily the first time with now sacrifice or modifications need.

Second because they are an OEM muffler they have ZERO drone, NOTHING, none.

The tone is aggressive and sounds like a Mustang. Many have complained that with aftermarket exhaust the new Coyote sounds "off, different, or funny" due to its new firing order. I can assure you the GT-500 Mufflers sound like a Mustang, nice and throaty.

These Mufflers are noticeably louder cruising around town and aggressive at WOT. However at idle they are marginally louder and not obnoxious.

The 4" tips are a very nice improvment over the stock tips and fill the fascia very very nicely.
Hi, okay, I'm in the same boat as the others, 2011 GT, want a more aggressive sound, only want to change mufflers (or muffler delete) axle-back only, want to spend less than $300. This video (http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/...ck-Exhaust-Kit) posted above sound GREAT with the Shelby 500 OEM mufflers. Can you estimate how much more HP and Torque? And what gains would be had with the addition of a Cold Air Intake? Thanks!

You bumped a one year old thread..? BTW, you will not gain anything with the mufflers.

Hey, at least he searched. Props for that.

You're not going to see any benefits from the axle-backs alone, other than sound. Swap out the H-pipe for an X-pipe with an axle-back system and you should net 7-10hp. That seems to be the going rate for companies that offer both (like Corsa).

Indeed he revived an old thread. But like the quote given by Stinger 1982, GT500's bar none. I love mine. I don't even need to pull the res's.

Here, to help you out:
