Has anyone removed thier spoiler

I had the dealer remove the spoiler and add the one from the CS

The metal under the new spoiler is wavy.

Is that normal?

This is an older post that I now have an update on with pictures. I need some advice!

Can you post a picture? It's hard to understand what you mean...

I have not removed my front fascia but I suspect that the bumper is not pretty underneath since it's not visible under normal circumstances.

Yep...photos would be a big help. The underside of my CS spoiler is black plastic while the rest is painted to match the car. So Iam a little confused.

One question, when they removed the spolier, did it require more holes to be drilled for the CS wing? I want to go the other way, swap out the wing for the lip type spoiler from the regular GT or delete it all together.

I will take a picture tonight when I go home.

They had to drill two holes to mount the wing.

The metal where the old spoiler sat is uneaven and wavy left to right.

What I was hoping was that someone else would have removed theirs and they could tell me if the metal under the spoiler was smooth.

Mine was smooth when I pulled mine off. My guess is they used the wrong tool or too much muscle getting the original spoiler off.

thats what I needed to hear. Now I need to decide if I live with the ripples (under the new spoiler) that are not real obvious, or have them fix it and have paint that may fade differently over time.

Any thoughts?

I say if it bugs you ... have dealer make it right ... if you can live with it and don't want the hassle ... leave it ...

It would bug the hell out of me ...

I removed the OE spoiler from my wife's new 2011 MCA and installed an OE pedestal spoiler. No ripples or waviness, before or after. Below are some photos I took.

If the paint is applied properly it should fade evenly with the rest of the car. Paints and painting techniques have come a long way in the past decade or two. Make them fix it.

First, in my earlier reply I thought you were talking about the wing itself...my only excuse, I have the flu. When I removed the wing on my '07 CS to put on the GT500 spoiler, the metal was a disaster. I think King Kong tightened down those studs. So, I know exactly what you are seeing. I would live with it, since you really never get the same quality/match as the factory paint, and honestly, you will be the only one to notice it, since you know it is there.

OK I am stupid. I took the car in and had them take the new spoiler off to repaint it. The put two more dents in the trunk lid that you can see from the rear. I am super frustrated and dont know what to do. I just dont want to go back to them and have them fix it. They say they will fix it if I want it but they think it is ok.

Her are the pix
the first picture is from removing the original spoiler the second picture is from removing the new spoiler to repaint it.

Any suggestions on what I can do and who I can call. Maybe I can turn this into my insurance?

They pried the old spoiler off to get the new one on, and to me the fix would be a new trunk lid

Agreed. If they are that incompetent, I sure as heck don't want them trying to fix that. That is freaking ridiculous. Did some moron think it was glued on? I'd take it somewhere else and send them a bill.

Angry

OMG that's terrible! How can Ford dealerships brag about their "highly trained" and "certified" technicians? Only a moron with a total disregard for the appearance of a beautiful car would do something like that. That's absolutely outrageous. Take your complaint right to the top man at that place. They need to make that right for you! I wouldn't blame you for taking it somewhere else, but you shouldn't have to pay for it. Make sure the management at that Ford Dealership comes out and inspects what they did to your car so it's documented.

Don't let them get away with that! Take it back and demand a new trunk lid. Your car was in perfect condition when you brought it in and that's the way it should be when you take it home!!!

I've had GT500 spoilers installed on my last two Stangs and both turned out great. Neither looked anything at all like your pics. That is horrible! They absolutely need to make this right!

Wow, that's some botched job. I'd go to a pdr ( paintless dent removal) and let them pop those dents right out. Just make sure you go to a reputable one. They can make it look like new and you would never know where the dents were. I've used pdr a few times and its amazing,'like magic. Where are you located.
