I was curious to see if anyone that has received your 2011 VIN# if you have been able to get an accurate quote from your insurance company? I know my insurance company (Erie) will only give an "estimate" until they have a VIN#. Thanks!

Since the quote will be differant depending on driving record, location, credit rating etc. it would be more helpful if you could provide the cost for a 2010 and then the 2011 so we have something to compare to.

Well I called my Farmers Insurance agent last week with the VIN and they didn't seem to have the 2011 Mustang GT in their system yet. She said that it looked like it would be the same rate?

I'm not sure if their systems will work this way, but you only need the first ten digits to differentiate the models and year. The letter X is the location of the check digit, which can be 0-9 as well as X, B is for the 2011 model year.

Got my quote back a week or so ago, $639 Every 6 months, full coverage replacement value for first three years I think. My 2008 Audi A4 is $550 a month for same coverage, so thats about what I expected. Oh I'm 32 with no tickets and a multi-car/multi-policy good credit rating discounts also. Think the deductible is $500

The fact that that the engine has more HP will have ZERO effect on the rates guys, quit stressing over it. An 11 is more expensive to insure than a 10 for the sole fact it is one year newer and worth more.

Rates will vary wildly and it does depend on where you live. I'm a little alarmed by some of the rates I see y'all quoting. $1200-1500/year?!?! for one car?
I fully insure my A6 4.2 and Acura MDX both for about $1300 year... Of course, I'm 39 and in central Texas.

I recall the GT500 being one of the most expensive cars to insure but, that said, I don't have anything in front of me to indicate that's entirely (or even primarily) due to accident rates.
We'll know the answer to this in about a year...

On that point, I wonder if the significant increase in power is going to result in more wannabe Fittipaldis embedding their 412 (or more) HP vehicles in guard rails, walls, utility poles, other cars, etc. Enough claims and the cost to insure a GT is certain to increase.

I was paying over $1200 a year back when I first started driving for a 4-cyl with only Liability. Now I pay about $600 a year for full coverage. Only difference then from now is I got older. Now figure in inflation, given that was over 15 years ago...
