Guys with Skip Shift Deleted AARRGGHH

Alright, I know this subject has been beaten to death with a stick but I have the skip shift deleted in my tune yadda yadda yadda and I swear it is still wanted to engage or something. I was out last night feeding some speed to the stang (lol) and when I ramp the rpms up to anything over 4500-5k the thing DOES NOT want to shift into second gear. Anything below that and its goes in great. My concern is with a previous thread stating where most guys are having an easier time shifting it into second at high rpms which is directly opposite of mine. Did anyone come up with anything? Is anyone else having problems at high rpms? I literally have to either rip the shifter in half or finagle it by almost pushing it up a little then it drops into second. Its at the point where I cant envision anyway possible I could make it down the track because of how horrible that transition is. Any help or comments are greatly appreciated. Thanks.

There has been quite a few cars that have had the pressure plate bolts come loose causing shifting problems.

Take it to the dealer and make use of your warranty.

I would say that could be a solution but it happens in no other gear at no other time. Its almost like when they took out the skip shift they only removed the message on the little info screen and the solenoid or whatever is controlling the second gear transition with skip shift is still engaging.

But skip-shift doesn't engage at the rpm you are having trouble at.

hhmm really? I could have swore when it was still "engaged" or whatever it would happen when I was "getting on it". i guess i stand corrected. but i would assume that if it were a pressure plate issue it would happen in all gears. I'm just a little frustrated I guess....I miss the good old days when u did h/c/i to a fox body and had a car half as fast and made twice the vibration as these ones.....lol not really.

Skip-shift only works at light throttle low rpm.

Take it to the dealer and let them check it out.

i have nothing to add solution-wise but am in the camp that feels 2-3 nodes on the 1-2 shift at low speeds and light throttle (not skip-shift) while at high rpms or aggressive driving the 1-2 goes right in no problem or notchiness

i don't have a tune and don't feel notchiness in any other gear or driving situations

Form the other posts I have been reading it seems like a clutch problem to me.

Here's lots of posts on this problem, especially on the early cars.

But if it was a clutch problem it would happen for all gears at all RPMs, right? Correct me if I am wrong...

To the OP, I have the same issues, but opposite, of you. At high RPMs 1->2 shift is great but at low RPMs it is a crapshoot. Sometimes it is smooth and sometimes it feels like skip shift is partially engaged. Still do not know how we take it into the dealer when we have it tuned out, they will probably say the problem is we tuned the skip shift out, lol. I am waiting for someone who knows more than me to physically remove the solenoid or connection causing the problem...
