GT build time

All,

When can I expect my GT to be built? I ordered it on 31 Aug and received my VIN 26 Sep. My dealer told me the customary 6 to 8 weeks but I'm figuring its going to be longer. This wait sucks.........

Thanks....

Guessing you custom ordered a 2010. If so, why didn't you wait a few months and order a 2011

Because I want a 2010....and I dont want to wait until next summer. I'm not worried about the new motor, I can get 400hp pretty easy from this engine. I have wanted a new stang since 05 and now is the time.

You wouldnt happen to be USAF would you? 20 years, currently on terminal leave...

I placed my order on aug 3 and it was built yesterday oct 6 - 9 weeks from order to build.....still waiting on delivery. I think the build schedule may be affected by options purchased, batch builds maybe. I would hope so since there is no other excuse IMO why mine should have taken so long. Have you tried plugging your vin into the window sticker creator webpage?

I tried that web page but no luck. I'm hoping the track pack doesn't slow down the build. I think I have a rare combo with the Candy Red, Stone interior and Track Pack so that may have an impact. I cant complain to much...this is the combo I wanted. Just as long as it doesn't take 12 or 14 weeks like some threads I have read on other forums.

****...this car was going to be a retirement present to my self...now it will be a Christmas present! Oh well...I had a dark red 67 in high school 22 years ago, I guess another few weeks of waiting won't hurt!

Well, that's kind of the mentality I had... Granted, it was hard tho. But staying cool about it helped. Tho geez, I would youtube "2010 Mustang GT" about everyday, go to cars.com and try to find like the exact pictures of what I was getting. google it, read about it, articles in car mags, look over the forums... No lie, the wait is rough. The anxiousness to have it, being impatient and eager to have it, all that stuff… But once the day arrives and you sit in it and drive it home, it's such a great feeling- we’ll worth it!

Here's to hoping it gets here soon!!!

I order all the Mustangs for a large NW Ford dealer. Once the VIN/Invoice is generated you're within about 2-3 weeks of the build date. Then, shipping is approximately another 2 weeks. So, your GT is probably being built in mid-October (next week perhaps) and should likely arrive at your dealership in very late-October or early November, depending on shipping.

A few months ago, there was a big delay getting Mustangs shipped as Ford was prioritizing small fuel efficient vehicles for shipment due to the gov't "cash for clunkers" program. That's over and done and it's business as usual for shipping Mustangs.

here is a link to mine as a reference for ya. Near the upper left hand corner it says "1897" with the word blend underneath that. Next to that there is a 9 digit number the last 6 of which are the yy mm dd date your car was/will be built. mine says 120091006 which means it was built October 06 2009. Of course I don't have mine yet though.........it's sitting on a lot somewhere

The date on the sticker is the day BEFORE the build date. So the actual build date is the 7th.

hmm....... maybe someone else can confirm this as well, but I haven't heard that before. Not that big of a deal though it's only 1 day.

Also @ madhatter if you wanna know if your car has actually been built you can try registering your car using your vin at www.syncmyride.com. If/when it's built it will allow you to register. If your car hasn't been built it will tell you you've input an invalid pin. I tried mine 10/07 that day after the date on the sticker and it was valid. LOL, made me feel good to know mine had actually been built after I waiting so long (10 weeks as of now) since ordering.

Call your dealer, they know your build date. Compare it to your sticker. That will confirm it.
