Gt 500 Rear Valance

I've seen many videos online about the install of the GT500 rear valance, but I haven't seen parts requirements. Almost everything I've seen about the valance includes "kits" purchased from AM or other vendors. I ordered the valance from my dealer and it wasn't clear if I need any additional hardware. It appears that the push clips will be reused, but do I need any screws, bolts, etc? I'm hoping to have the valance by Friday and then I can install the quad exhaust this weekend. Thanks

The white D clips are the key. Without those it just won't stay on. If you bought the right part, it comes with the hardware kit. Its called a dealer package. I think I had to add 2 bolts and nut clips for the left and right side. Someone bought the kit I received and had returned it, leaving out some of the hardware.

Removing the entire rear bumper cover is exciting lol.

you also need a new rear bumper isolator (the foam piece) in order for it to fit (assuming you don't already have the boss 302 or C/S lower valance on it already). I ordered the boss 302 valance and it came with all the hardware (even had instructions on how to trim the bumper cover to make sure the valance fits). I would assume the GT500 valance direct from Ford comes with the same stuff.

also assuming you are doing a quad exhaust because the Gt500 valance is designed for that. will look weird with regular dual exhaust.

I do have the quad exhaust just waiting to be installed. I ordered DR3Z-17F828-AB from the dealer. I just couldn't tell what comes with it. I found a GT500 exhaust setup for the GT on Ford Racing and they list a bunch of parts and also the mufflers. I don't need the mufflers from the list below. I'm just wondering if I need any of these parts or are they reused from the bumper removal, or do they come with the valance? I don't know.

Item # Description Qty
DR3Z-17F828-AB Bumper Extension 1
DR3Z-5230-L RH GT500 Muffler 1
DR3Z-5230-M LH GT500 Muffler 1
W707291S439 Nut (M4.2) 2
W712919S900 Screw (M4.2 x 25mm) 2
W705436S300 Push Pin (6 x 18mm) 2
W716237S300 Retainer 2
YL8413B519HCA Clip 2
W709984S300 Rivet Push Pin 4
BR3Z-5A231-C Muffler clamp 2
W711331-S439 Bolt, lateral stiffener 2

Do a search on installing the Gt 500 valance and mufflers. I have seen a few videos on it. My understanding is it comes with all the parts you need.

Give Tasca or Autonation Ford dealers a call. These guys know what you'll need, because they've done it many times! Both dealers are sponsors on SVTP. I purchased mine from Tasca, but since I had a boss, I reused my hardware and no cutting was required. For some reason, the GT500 used less clips than the boss valence. I Didn't want to force rest of the clips in and everything seems to be fine and in place.

Also check out this thread on SVTP, it may help you on installation tips.
I really love the look of the GT500 valence and axleback. Best of luck to you!

P.S. before you install your mufflers, paint the back end of the mufflers black, it'll look alot cleaner than having to see the silver mufflers from the back of the car. I did not paint the tips tho, that's up to your taste.

Jazzman442, my first post said that I've been researching this but I haven't found any definitive answers since almost everything I have found was regarding a kit, not just the valance. Also, your name/avatar bring back memories...

Sako, thanks for the info. I will look into them. I did notice that Tousley Ford has a new website and their listed parts pricing is not so good anymore. Maybe they can still provide decent info. My plan is to paint the mufflers and leave the tips stainless.

It WAS my car. I sold it with 29k miles in 2002. I was unemployed and moving so I needed to unload some toys. I wish I still had that car. It really was looker. Not fast by any stretch, but who needs fast when people thought it was fast.

Me too! Thanks for this! Can anyone with the quad tip exhaust measure the opening of the cutout for me? The standard GT500 axleback has dual-4" tips right?

I got the valance last night and it appears to come with the only the clips attached in the middle of the lower valence. I think the part number is W716237S300. There is a white clip already there and I can confirm later what parts are needed. I definitely need to get the bolts and nut that mount the valance on the outer edge. That is not currently on the car and is not in the package.

Ok, I got the valance and GT500 mufflers on. It's sounds great! It took about three hours to do because I was teaching my son how to work on the car. I also took the tires off for easier accessibility. The only parts I needed to get were the two outside bottom bolts. Everything else gets reused. Cutting the bumper up was easier than I thought. I used a jig saw! It cut quickly and cleanly.

Awesome! I can't wait for mine!! Hey are any of you guys in upstate NY or Toronto area? Solo Performance is looking for a 13-14 GT with quad tip valance or GT500 to borrow for R&D on their quad tip kit. See my thread in the main 10-14 section for more info...

It is considerably louder now. I thought the factory GT exhaust had a good tone to it. These have a deep growl, but is definitely louder than before. I think it sounds good, but I wonder if it's too loud for my son to drive. A 16 year old in a red performance car with tinted windows and loud exhaust may make him a target. The sound is not obnoxious. It sounds very good.
