What purpose do the gloves serve? Do they make you faster? Does it make your car more responsive in turns? Oh wait you said drag strip.

You will hardly every see anybody at the drag strip using gloves. I only use gloves at the track when Im changing out my stock tires for my slicks.

If you're taking a golf cart to the drag strip, by all means. If you're taking a Mustang, skip 'em.

And leave the driving shoes at home too.

And the bright racing suit.

Do make sure and take your helmet, gloves or not, you will need that if you car is faster than 14.0 in the quarter.

If anything i would expect to slip more with golf gloves, thats doesn't seem smart to me. Seems more like an old Asain lady. (If you live in SoCal you have probably seen this many times)

They wear a sleeve so their left arm doesn't become more tanned than their right arm. They don't wear gloves.

For you youngsters....Hurst used to make the "Swifter Shifter glove,to enable a better grip on the
shifter ball. This was back in '65-'66. Wish they would bring them back out...a nostalgia thing you know! As for driving/racing shoes...I recently bought a pair as they are lighter in weight, and give a better feel on the clutch and brake pedals, plus not as clunky as the typical sports/athletic type shoe.
Made a difference for me,for race days.

The only people I've seen driving with gloves on are douches. True story.

How about these for racing shoes?
Doubt they are SFI approved though.

Why would you need shifter gloves back then? Were the shifter ***** made of wet soap bars?

No....same plastic shifter ***** they make today. Just a cool marketing idea Hurst had then for a sweaty hand on the stick, awaiting the last yellow bulb to light!
Had a pic of Dick Landy running thru the gears, wearing the glove. Don't remember Ronnie Sox using one though.
