I think you made a typo there... FWD =/= Mustang... we went over this in the late 80's

The Mustang I4 will be either 2.0L or 2.5 Turbo and at least 260 hp!

Let's face it, any change is good change at this point. We currently have a 210hp clunker of a V6 and a modest V8 that is quickly becoming obsolete.

Personally, I would just be happy with the 265hp 3.5 and a 390hp 5.0, but the ecoboost would be pretty impressive if we see it in a regular model and not just in a SE

Um...and then what?
I believe 150,000 miles is Ford's durability standard for all of their gas engines.

A new four cylinder Mustang would be a whole lot faster than mine.

No FWD Mustang. Won't happen.

That said, all this new engine talk is quite exciting.

I doubt it, I'd say Eco 4 (if the Eco 4 is available across the line). Eco 6, and whatever the future V8 mill will be for the Shelby. N/A V8s will probably be ADM Specials put out here or there to keep things interesting.

Even with more hp in a heavier car than that concept, I'm thinking it should still get somewhere in the 30's, right? A 30+ MPG Mustang should help a little with the good ol' CAFE score.

"Featuring a 1.6-liter EcoBoost engine and Ford's all-new dry, dual-clutch PowerShift six-speed transmission, Lincoln C achieves a projected 43 mpg on the highway, while offering up an estimated 180 horsepower and 180 ft.-lbs. of torque."
I don't think the Mustang would use that 1.6, that's the smallest of the EB engines and is designed to supersede the bigger N/A I4s in use. The Ecoboost I4 which replaces the V6 will likely have a larger base displacement and a higher output, such as the 2.5 L that Motortrend mentions in this vid:
