Funny story!

So i got my JLT oil seperator the other day (which looks great i might add) and as i was installing it i noticed something on my intake cover. It appears that while im at work a little critter of some sort (most likely a rat) has been sleeping up there. Reason i have come to this conclusion is, well, look at the pictures and judge for yourself.

Be careful, they like to eat the insulation off the wiring and can cause some very expensive repairs to be needed.

Well that would suck. Any ideas on how to stop them from getting in there.

Keep a cat under your hood.

Well, a little rat poison will get rid of them...

When I was stationed in Germany, I had a car that kept getting the wires chewed by critters. It first chewed the spark plug wires, and then chewed on the wiring harness, and then another set of plug wires. I asked my German neighbors about it and they said it was a common problem there...and they prevented it by taping a few clumps of dog hair under the hood. Critters won't come around if they smell another animal. So, I got some dog hair clippings from their dog and taped them a couple places under my hood by the distributor and the wiring harness. I never had another problem. It may not look nice but it worked. There may be a better option...but this is one that worked for me.

I have critters living in my car engines all the time, they leave acorns and stuff in there . . . if you drive the car every day they stay away, but if it sits for a while they get in there.

Yeah you need to keep them out of there so they don't chew on stuff.

I've read on some other forums that people have placed sheets of fabric softener under the hood. They say the rats and such don't like the smell and will stay away.

^ YEP! Bounce dryer sheets, FTW!

If the car sits in one place for a while, you can also put some mothballs around it too. After a while though, the interior might start to smell like mothballs too, though.

What is that??? If that is not dog food you should get a gun and shoot (not kill) whatever creature that left you that fine mess.
