FRPP Tune is the way it should have come from the factory...
Yes, I know there are higher HP tunes out there. Yes, I know that on some FRPP tuned cars some light pinging can be apparent. Yadda, yadda.
Just picked up the Ford Performance Pro Cal tuner. Removes 1-4 shift gate problem without fighting with pulling stuff off to unplug it from the transmission. Zero pinging, zero drama (other than finding out the retaining clip for my OBD-II port had been installed backward, precluding the plugging in of anything). zero mess. Sat in the car and surfed the web on my phone while waiting on the upload process to complete. Supposedly adds 15hp on top and 60lb-ft in the 1500-2000rpm range. Seat-of-the-pants dyno supports something in the ballpark of those numbers. Nothing crazy on the top end, but the throttle is a bit more responsive, extremely stupid 1-4 gate is GONE, and state highway / moderate interstate speed cruising has a good bit more oomph when nosing the throttle a bit wider at 70-75mph in 6th gear. Does it throw you back in the seat at 75 in 6th? No, but I didn't expect it to. It pulls just enough harder that I don't feel like I need to downshift quite as often. AND it picked up MPGs. Hand-calculated workday round-trip mileage (~150miles, mostly interstate at 75+) for the first tank was 22.6. Previous running average for commute runs was 21.5, and in this tank there may have been a handful of extra 'spirited' accelerations. Normally get a couple per fill-up, but with the new tune there were a 'few' more than normal.
Added bonus: Executing a 1-4 shift in the window it was locked at before actually makes sense now, since with all the extra torque down low, it doesn't bog the motor the way it did previously. But now I have the choice to pull a 1-2 shift if I know I need 2nd shortly after take-off... Imagine that!

Thank you for providing such very valuable knowledge and for sharing your positive experiences with the FRPP calibration tune... It will indeed become very useful for those seeking aftermarket tuning options.
