Ford X-Plan Tips & Tricks
If you're interested in the Ford X-Plan reduced pricing - what I did was First sign up and become a member of "The Mustang Club of America" it's $50 per year and one of the perks is access to the Ford X-Plan - just follow the instructions posted on their forum web site.
Once the above process is done, you'll have access to the Ford Partner web site (https://www.fordpartner.com/partnerweb/login.do) which gives you the MSRP, X-Plan Price, any current incentives based on your zip code, and Net Price. The savings on a GT Premium MSRP vs X Plan is $2,120 and with X-Plan their is NO haggling at the dealership - plus ask up front if your dealer accepts X-Plan pricing. Make sure to create your "PIN" and print it because the Dealer will need a copy.
A couple things mentioned in the Rules of X-Plan is:
- Document Fees is a flat $100 (retail could be as much as $350)
- The dealer is required to provide you with a true copy of the factory invoice showing the Partner Recognition price on the line labeled X-Plan. The price includes advertising, finance costs, transportation, fuel charges and Ford Motor Company administrative fees. The dealership may not charge extra for these items.
- Nominal Gifts; X-Plan customers may accept items or services of nominal value (i.e. $50 or less dealership cost) as a gift or reward in connection with an X- Plan sale or lease. All gifts or rewards offered by the dealership for sponsoring an XPlan sale or lease must be comparable with gifts or rewards offered by the dealership on retail sales or leases, and may not exceed $50 in value (dealership cost). Examples of acceptable gifts include a wall calendar, Motorcraft apparel, gas card, an oil change, a car wash, etc, provided the item or service does not exceed $50 in value (dealership cost).
- Any Ford Incentives currently being offered and the $750 Private Cash Offer Coupon (read the fine print, if it doesn't say excluding X-Plan then you can use it)
Special Note: when your logged into the Ford Partner web site and you click the link to "Build & Price" it will take you to the normal looking Ford build your Mustang step by step process but on the last page it shows you the X-Plan price and price for all the options you selected.
Final note: I spent $50 and ended up saving over $3,000 when I bought my 2014 Mustang GT Premium which made me happy
So I thought I would share the info.

X Plan is slightly above invoice. It used to be slightly below. On my well-optioned base 13 GT, sticker was $36775 and X Plan would have been $34552. It's a good deal in an area where dealers don't heavily discount. It sometimes works well for more limited production vehicles. It was how I bought my 01 Bullitt. When the car came out everyone wanted sticker or above. After checking with two dealers one agreed to X.
I got my X Plan through EAA, but it now requires you to be a member for a year before getting a PIN. I have purchased 4 vehicles in 12 years. Used it twice, didn't twice.
2001 Bullitt. X Plan
2004 F350. Invoice minus $900. Used AQHA rebate which was not compatible with X Plan also.
2008 Ranger. X Plan. Dealer was no-haggle, but would do X Plan.
2013 Mustang. Invoice minus about $1500. X would have been at least $1600 higher. To me it was too late in the year and I didn't want a new one enough to pay anywhere near X Plan. It took $7900 below sticker with rebates to get me off the fence.
Just depends on the circumstance, how much time you are willing to put into it and how far you might be willing to go. X Plan can be beat. Sometimes by a lot. But it is what I recommend for most people I know who not willing to do the dance.

Like other have said it basically lets you get to invoice pricing the moment you walk in the door, with no hassle. With my 2014 Mustang the final X-Plan cost (everything outside tax/title/tags and discount program/rebates) was about $120 over invoice. So if you are comfortable with that price and/or don't want to deal with haggling, then it's a great thing to have.
Two things you should know:
1) If you plan to trade in on the X-Plan, don't expect to get the best value on your trade-in. From what I've seen and experienced, it'll definitely be below blue book. You'd be better off negotiating the sale yourself outside of the dealership.
2) There is no guarantee you will get X-Plan pricing. It shouldn't be an issue, but I've encountered situations where a dealer just did not participate in the X-Plan program, and I've had dealers who do the X-Plan tell me they will not sell me a car on the X-Plan (it wasn't one of the vehicles on the restricted list, either).
If you live in an area that is not prone to haggling, or you just don't have the time or do want to deal with the hassle the X-Plan can definitely be a benefit.

Several people on Team Shelby bought them at that time, and I looked it up on x-plan but I bought mine for less than x-plan so it didn't help me. They also had a $2500 dealer cash incentive that wasn't listed publicly that people were getting in addition to x-plan on 11's around March-April of 2011.

I became a MCA for other reasons, the X-Plan pin was a nice add on.
Go in make your best deal and get the Trade in price, then hit them with I have an X-plan Pin if I need too and see where it goes from there.
I did save an extra $1000 using the pin over what we had the car down to.
If I don't use X-Plan I also have the option of an extra $500 off for my insurance company (Farm Bureau of Tennessee).

I did x-plan plus $500.00 incentive off plus $750.00 coupon off from Ford...so total was around $1,200.00 below invoice. I thought that was a pretty good deal since the 13s were just hitting the lots. I also did all of the negotiating via e-mail...in about three e-mails. Super fast and easy, no hassle at all. I would certainly buy that way again!
