WTF is the "upliffter" package?

The upfitter package is the trim that saleen, Roush, etc order and then modify into their version. Typically they are basically a premium gt with 3.55 gears and cloth seats that will b changed ou later. Pretty sure they don't allow the average consumer the ability to order this trim, kinda like fleet cars.

 

Ah, that was the 800A trim package that one other on here was asking about.

Think that other car was a leftover found on a lot that never made it to the aftermarket builder.

Doubt you could get a dealer to order one like that for an individual, Ford probably has a rule for dealers against that.

 

Ah yes, the "Uplift" series by David Brin. Now that's some good science fiction. I don't know what it has to do with Mustangs, however.

I think you could spec one out that was darn close to a "tuner" package. Get a base GT w/spoiiler delete. Manual trans w/3.73 gears and your done.

 

Yeah, but the package that is referred to here is basically a "Premium" car with all that comes on a premium except with cloth seats, so the car you mention wouldn't have all that on it.

 

Ok, so make it a premium car and rip out the leather, or see if you can order the tuner package. I can't see any reason why you couldn't.
